The front desk is so friendly and provided helpful recommendations. The hotel accommodations are roomy and clean. I love how pet-friendly the hotel and staff are. I would do valet parking as it's more convenient and the staff there are helpful as well. All around, they went above and beyond for us. This is my go-to spot when in Reno from now on. It's in the middle of everything and has great views.

Busy packed weekend here. Greeted by valet “let us take care of you.” Um wow! Smooth check in. Room was spacious for us and two dogs. Dog park is perfectly located. Gift bag for dogs. Very clean room. Very comfortable bed. Just a great place!

I selected this property due to its proximity to the Reno Arch - the starting line of the Reno River Run that I regularly participate in. I also travel to Reno a lot for work and I have a son who attends UNR. The location of the hotel is prime - right in the middle of the action. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end for this property. The parking situation is not very clear - valet is on the side street and unless you know where you're going, you will likely miss it. The self-parking is across the street - again, not very clear. We chose valet for the convenience although it is a $15/day charge compared to the $5/day (or free if you book direct) for the self-parking. Downtown Reno can be an unpleasant place after dark and we didn't want to deal with any issues during our stay. The absolutely WORST part about our stay was the elevator situation. The hotel has 3 elevators. Unfortunately, one was out of order. Then, there is a sign indicating for guests to call BOTH remaining elevators as they are not on the same system. This seems innocent enough until you realize that people on the upper floors will be pushing both buttons making BOTH elevators stop at every floor on the way up or down. The wait time to take an elevator exceeded 10 minutes most of the time and on checkout, it was close to 30 minutes! On top of that, the stairwells had an alarm system indicating emergency exit only. This is a non-smoking, non-gaming facility, which is fine by me, but aside from a typical hotel cafe and the adjoining BaseCamp rock climbing facility, there is absolutely nothing special about this hotel, certainly nothing to justify the price we paid. If you like to gamble, I would stay at one of the adjacent casinos for a much better rate. If you're in town for a ball game or a convention, I would look at the Marriott, Renaissance or Hilton properties throughout the city. If this hotel were $50/night, it would be fine. But at $200/night it was not worth the dough.

Dear Guest, First off, we thank you for choosing our hotel among various other options in the Downtown Reno area. Most importantly, we are very sorry to hear your stay with us was anything less than exceptional. Yes, we are a non-resort hotel so we don't charge the many resort fees you will experience elsewhere. Therefore, we do charge a fee for valet and self-parking. We apologize if the location of our garage and/or the fees associated were not properly disclosed to you in your pre-arrival. In regards to the elevator situation, we are very much aware of this issue and are doing our best to resolve it and get all 3 elevators up and running efficiently, ASAP. For a little back story here - about a year and a half ago we decided to replace all our elevators to improve the speed and efficiency and reduce wait times for our guests, improving their overall experience at our hotel! The elevator modernization project was projected to take place during the winter months (slower season) and partially during out shutdown due to covid. The company replacing our elevators has thus pushed the project out and the entire replacement process has been very delayed, and frankly quite drawn out. Due to the inconvenience, we have removed over 100 rooms from our inventory to prevent backups in our elevator lobbies. We are truly doing our best and appreciate guest patience during high traffic weekends as our elevator modernization project continues on. At this point, we currently have 1/3 elevators replaced and expect to have our 2nd one finished this week - meaning the two finished will be running in-sync once again (hallelujah). Once again, we very much so apologize for this inconvenience, especially during high-traffic hours. We are working with the elevator company around the clock to get this finished ASAP. We appreciate our guests' patience and understanding during this process and are sorry to hear that our elevator modernization project has tainted your experience with us. Sincerely, The Whitney Peak Hotel Management Team

While this facility is ok, I can't say I'd recommend them. It seems clean enough and the rooms are fine. But two big problems. Their valet parking assured me they had charging stations and would plug in my PHEV overnight, but did not do so. And as 11 PM an alarm went off for fully 45 minutes, assuring me we were not in any danger. If so, shut it off!!! Hand sanitizers were mostly empty. The front desk wouldn't give me change of a $20 bill so I could tip their staff....apparently having cash there is against their policy. Food in the limited restaurant was good. Reno is kind of a dump though, so don't expect much.

Hello Tom, We are sorry to hear your stay with us was anything less than exceptional. While we do have many charging stations in our garage, due to liability reasons we need to make sure that our guests are comfortable with our staff charging their vehicles before we go ahead and do so. If it is requested, by all means our valet staff should have plugged in the vehicle. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope to get the chance to make things right by you in the future! Sincerely, Whitney Peak Hotel Management
