The New York - New York Hotel & Casino offers a vibrant atmosphere with its lively themed decor and entertainment options, which guests typically enjoy. However, some visitors have concerns about the room decor and air quality. While the staff often receives compliments for their friendliness, there are also reports of slow or unprofessional service.
Despite the hotel's prime Strip location, noise from the roller coaster and nearby construction can be bothersome. Room cleanliness generally garners praise, but inconsistent housekeeping and outdated bathroom amenities are noted. Additionally, extra fees for basic in-room conveniences add to the sentiment that the hotel might not offer the best value.

Detailed Reviews
In September I had another trip to Vegas, this time chose the NYNY. I always wanted to try this one and thought, the location and design is really amazing. Upon check-in the amazement got a little lost. The lady who had checked me in was not particularly friendly. It felt a little too rushed and was not with too much interest of where to put me which I figured out later too. I received a room on the fourth floor, walked in, very dark. I wondered why and looked out the window. My view was a wall. Literally a wall, nothing else. I went downstairs and asked for a higher floor, received a downgrade in room category, but for me it felt like an upgrade due to Strip view. Anyways, the room was nothing special but it worked for the time I was there. The bathrooms are not too big, the room itself has a standard room size. The casino then is fun, great atmosphere, little New York with lots of restaurants and other entertainment outlets. I would say it is a good place if you can get a room up to $150 per night. Above would be wasted dollars, and make sure that you specify room location as the one I have gotten was absolutely awful.

While I was staying there the power went out (11/21)in the entire hotel and casino 3 times. The first time I was in the elevator. It went completely dark and the elevator felt like it dropped 6 feet, causing me to have a panic attack. I used the ATM 10 minutes after the power came back after the second outage and never received my money, however my bank statement showed that I was still charged for the $300 withdrawal a day later. The hotel room we stayed in was a king suite that faced the strip. The view was great however the walls between the rooms were very thin and I was able to hear several conversations from our neighbors next door in detail and smelled marijuana smoke at 6am. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and it had "sanitized" stickers on highly used items like the remote control, desk, lamps and doors. Our room had a complimentary sanitizing kit with 2 cloth face masks, hand sanitizer and 2 door openers. Checking in was pretty cool. We were able to check in early and make our own key card from our phones!
The casino had every other slot machine turned off to comply with social distancing guidelines, clear barrier between the players at the table, and a hand washing station set up and registration , which was pretty awesome! They were also limiting the amount of people who could get on the elevator at a time to go up, so there was line for the elevators especially during the evening. What was odd, was the fact that when the elevators came down to the main floor, 10 people would get off one elevator! Overall, this was a good clean hotel with some issues.

Local here and I wanted to take advantage of the cheap deal this hotel was providing for the reopening. I paid $39 +$40 resort fee on Expedia for 1 night. Great deal, since parking was free.
My main reason for staying was to use the pool and ofcourse take advantage of the cheap room rate! Pool was nice good size. It is only 4 and half feet deep , so it is very family friendly. Nice view of the towers and rollercoaster as it goes by.
I stayed in room 3311 Empire Tower. Very clean and quiet! Ofcourse the hotel was not busy at all. You are provided with a small care package in the room with hand sanitizer and a couple of face masks with a carrying case.
Upon going up to the room by the elevators they do have free masks and sanitizer you can use. Roller coaster was running but slow loading, since they are cleaning and sanitizing the cars every ride.
Most shops and restaurants were open from what I could see. Unfortunately no shows or bars, nightclubs are open at this time, so unless you are only interested in gambling, swimming and dining there is really not much else to do in Vegas right now.

My 70+ year old mother had never been to Las Vegas before and since I had to go there for a work trip I decided to bring her along and stay for an additional 2 days. After trying to decide between several hotels I decided on New York, New York. Having spent my childhood in NY I thought it would be fun for my mother. Check in went smoothly and precautions were taken due to Covid which I appreciated but after that things went downhill. I told the lady it was my mother’s 1st time in LV and we’d love a room with a view (she gave us one with a fantastic view of a parking lot and generators) I also asked if the Irish Restaurant was open and I was assured it was however they failed to mention that they were only serving drinks and no food. The room we were given was dirty, floor had crumbs-debris, trash still in the bins, hair in the bathtub etc and there was only 1 towel. Repeated phone calls to the front desk went unanswered so I decided to go there in person. Upon exiting the room I ran into a house keeper who I asked for a towel however she informed me that I needed to call for service due to the hotels policy with Covid!? I also noticed a large bag of trash that seemed to be from one of the rooms in the hallway near the elevators (which remained there for the entire 2 days we were there!!!). At the front desk there was now a considerable line and when I finally made my way to the front I was told a towel would be brought to the room (it never was) and the apologized for it being dirty and assured me it would be taken care of. We then went to get something to eat, ended up eating cold pizza in the VERY COLD basement/lower level after finding out the restaurant was closed. Upon returning to the room there was a seal on the door so we assumed it had been cleaned. It looked almost exactly the same besides the trash was taken out of the bin and still no towel. My mother was tired and disappointed so told me to just let it be for the night and we would deal with things the next day.
Paper thin walls and ceiling made for virtually no sleep!
Next day the hallways were a mess, cigarette butts in the elevator (were still there the following day). Stopped down at the desk and again and asked for a towel and the room to be properly cleaned and went out for a days adventure.
Came back that evening to no seal on the room, no cleaning done and the same trash in the hallway and elevator.
Upon checking out and sharing all this, along with photos with the “manager” the only thing offered was resort fees being waived.
Needless to say this was a REALLY disappointing experience and I suggest looking elsewhere as I’m sure you can find much nicer accommodations.

All I can say is the resort fees are high and they charge tax on the fees. $114 room will cost you $172/nt because of the extra fees....not counting parking fees. Also, when you go out for the evening take everything with you because housekeeping will remove whatever they want. I had epsom salt for the spa, unopened bottle of wine and water jug which were all removed without my permission.

Our aromatherapy machine was empty and the shower infusion tube was empty so we did not get the benefit of those two amenities that I had paid for. I placed a maintenance call the very next day and I was told maintenance would show up at a certain time and they never did show up nor were the issues corrected. So I felt like I had wasted money on extra amenities with this room. The room did smell fresh with the extra filtration system and also the floor is controlled by key access only.

On arrival we only waited a few minutes to check in, this was all pre-booked and enquired about a room upgrade as this was our 10 years anniversary And I am glad we did!!!! Wow what a view. The room was massive, it was at the front and near the rollercoaster and the main strip which I thought it was going to be loud after midnight but surprising it wasn't. Slept like a log and I am fussy about noise!!
The hotels location was great nearly central and about a 10- 15 mins walk to the belargio fountains. To get from the room down the elevator to the hotels exit was like 5 minutes so pretty convenient.
The hotel is old but not to the point is looks tired like others I have seen out there. It was decent I thought. We didn't go to the sky bar as we had a decent 90 degrees view.
The only downside is the resort's fees but hotel was great.
48th crepe do great crepe there worth it and Broadway burger bar n grill do great burgers!
Tom's urban only go for drinks as the food is poor and under cooked and you wait forever, shame really so avoid food, drinks only.
There's plenty of other bars and food there to pick from.
Summary, if you want a Hotel close to the fountains/ almost central check it out. I here poor reviews but I found it a decent hotel and reasonable prices just resort's fees is the downside but you cannot avoid this.

We had a Park Ave King View room on the 12th floor in the New Yorker tower. It was small but clean and had pleasant soap/shampoo/conditioner/lotion. No fridge or coffee maker. No room service is provided unless it's requested. Key cards are required in the elevators and only work for the floor you're assigned to.
The pool is open but masks need to be worn at all times unless you're in the pool or actively eating/drinking/smoking.
There are hand-washing stations and glove/mask dispensers in the lobby. The tables
and some other games also have a person limit or every other seat blocked off - for example, black jack could only have 3 people at a table at one time and each chair is separated by plexiglass.
I really liked the pizza place (Sirrico's) in the lobby - $6 for slice of cheese. Sodas in the drink machines on each floor are $3.

We were given a rather small room, but it was OK and had all the necessary facilities. We could see a view of the Strip and the hotel's rollercoaster. The room was cold with no method of heating, there was no bin in the bathroom and the noise from the sirens and aircrafts was very loud (maybe an investment into better triple glazing?). Overall our stay was lovely though, the location is perfect to walk along the strip, the check in & out was very quick and easy, The parking allows you to change between any MGM car park at no extra charge...which was very useful. The bars & restaurant are also very nice and good value, especially the pizza bar, the Crepes counter and the hot dog counter.

My husband and I came to Las Vegas for a convention at Mandalay Bay. The convention location was easily accessed via the tram from next door at the Excalibur.
The room was very clean and had plenty of room. We had a king size bed.
The only complaint about the room was lack of a coffee pot.
All the staff at the hotel was friendly and helpful, from registration where we upgraded to an available room, to the cleaning staff, when I needed the room cleaned early.
There was plenty of gambling and slots, and
the casino floor was not too spread out so didn’t have to walk a long way to get to anything.
I loved that there were TWO Starbucks!
Every restaurant we ate at in the hotel was the best quality with excellent service.
It is also conveniently located to other restaurants outside the hotel and also a CVS you can walk to.
I have gone many times to Las Vegas, this is the first hotel I would make a return visit to.

No, there aren't. I've stayed here twice: the first time, I brought my own Walmart brand Keurig machine + K-cups. The second time, I brought camping mugs & a little travel kettle that will heat up water to make instant coffee. There's a Starbucks near the registration but I find it easier just to bring my own.
I believe they put a $50 hold, and it was taken off when I checked out.
