If you don't mind the throwback days when motels dotted small towns along desert roads then Beatty is the perfect place to stay. The town has just about everything you need - gas and restaurants. Note: Arco gas only accepts debit card or cash.
When we asked the Furnace Creek Ranger if she would explore DV from Beatty, NV or Pahrump, NV she wholeheartedly endorsed any choice over Pahrump! So off to Beatty we go since we had decided "not" to stay at the Park facilities.

Yes I think there was a fridge. There was a coffeemaker as well, but we didn't use it as it looked like it hadn't been used in quite a while (it was clean, but had old water gook and the coffee looked... well not great... More
