Stayed in the hotel on the lake , fantastic location. Room was lovely overlooking the water . Very peaceful. Charlie’s bar was nice , sat out for drinks enjoying the view. Evening meal served in the bar was lovely. Good choice for Breakfast which was served in the restaurant .Staff very attentive and helpful. Made use of leisure facilities which we enjoyed. Had no problem parking and found some nice walks near by . Would definitely recommend
We went for afternoon tea for my mum's birthday. It was lovely food and plenty of it (actually took some home) but my only criticism was we were seated in the bar area, not the surroundings appropriate for afternoon tea in a Georgian mansion, I would have liked to have been seated in one of the plush dining rooms. Outside the bar area was nice but was raining at the time.
Visited the hotel for a romantic one night stay, to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I have to say, I have very mixed feelings about the place. Firstly, we booked an executive room. The room was situated in a complex across from the main hotel across a lake in what was an old Manor House. It was a quaint and charming place and clearly as lots of history and a lovely location in the middle of a lake. But regards the room, again it looked idillic, with old fashioned mahogany furniture and a large 4 poster bed. Looks are deceiving though. Every movement made the floors creak ,the bed was rock hard, I don’t think the mattress as been changed since the Manor House was built, considering the wonderful mattresses available nowadays, it’s either ancient or the person who is buying mattresses for the hotel as absolutely no understanding of the word comfort. The bed also made a creaking noise at every movement. Then there was the noise from the neighbouring room, as soon as the guests arrived noise started , more creaking floors from next doors room, we could here the muffled talking and the tv. Simply no sound proofing. The guests next door woke up at 5 am and even put the tv on and talked and started singing. They clearly have no consideration for other guests, but you have to blame the hotel, who could have dealt with such issues over the years. It really spoilt the occasion. Regards the rest of the facilities, these were good, the leisure complex is nice and the swimming pool was great. The bar areas and restaurants were all good, the breakfast was top class. The staff were excellent and very friendly. Watch the drinks prices, nearly £9 for a pint and an half of lager. All in all I wouldn’t visit again, simply not comfortable enough and really not private enough, regards noise in the rooms.…
A delayed birthday trip away. Beautiful room with fabulous surroundings. Staff were very friendly & helpful. So nice to see the place back up & running after lockdown. Will definitely be back. Don't want to recommend as want to keep this place to ourselves.
Should have been at the hotel 7 November for my husband birthday but had to cancel for lock down. We have received gold standard service from the staff on the cancellation. Will be booking again when times are better. Thanks to the staff. Stay safe. X
