Heathside Lodges Review (Suffolk May 2021)   We stayed at Heathside Lodges on 10th May for 4 nights with our 2 and 4 year old kids.  Check in (via an office at the back of the shop as you enter the park) was very quick & easy – fairly small holiday park so easy to find the accommodation.   Lodge was absolutely perfect and very clean. Good size living accommodation, fully equipped kitchen, 2 bedrooms and 2 full sized bathrooms, both with bath and shower. Plenty of storage space. Lots of towels plus extra towels for the hot tub. Lovely comfy beds. Patio chairs and table on the outside deck. Couldn’t have asked for more! The only thing which would have been nice would be to park right next to our lodge rather than in the parking bay – just makes it easier for unloading/ loading the luggage etc.  Site itself was fairly small but the whole place was immaculate and very well kept. There was a well stocked shop, small playground area, a nature trail and even a few donkeys! Beautiful large green flat grassy area which was completely safe for the kids to have a run around in and play football etc. Our boys were so happy just running freely! There were lots of little glamping pods dotted around which looked very cute! Also I noted electric hook ups for caravans, although there were no caravans when we went so I am assuming the park will feel busier in the summer holiday when they are fully booked.   We went in the hot tub on our first night, which was amazing and so relaxing. However, on the 2nd day the hot tub went wrong. Despite various attempts, and an engineer spending a whole day working on it, unfortunately it could not be fixed. We were very disappointed, but we understood the site owners did everything they could and it’s something we have taken up with Hoseason’s separately.    When we returned home I realised I had left behind my 2 son’s dressing gowns, and Karen, one of the owners very kindly returned these to me which I was very grateful for.   Now a bit of constructive criticism… when we first arrived at the site whilst we were unloading the car, one of the owners (Jim, Karen’s husband) came bounding over all guns blazing, shouting at us and asking why we had the radiators on when all of the doors were open! This took us very much by surprise as we had only just arrived so we had no idea that the radiators were on! After a heated discussion, he stormed off, then Karen came over to smooth things over and explained that he is just a “blunt person”, and he is also going deaf which is why he shouts!! This really put a dampener on the start of our holiday and the kids were upset by all of the shouting too. We feel that Jim needs to work on his customer service skills, or perhaps just let Karen be the "front of house" person as she was much more helpful and approachable. If Jim had come over politely and asked us to turn off the radiators we wouldn’t have had a problem with this, it’s just the way he went about it.

I think what we stayed in is termed a luxury glamping pod. It is a shed with a shower, tiny kitchen and four beds. The kids loved it. But it was clean when we got there, has everything you need for a short break with the family (especially if you are out exploring). We didn't have much time to explore the site, but in seemed clean and neat, we saw a decent playground for the kids, and plenty of open space. The small shop on site had all the essentials too. It is superbly located for the North Suffolk coast - we went to Southwold, Walberswick and Minsmere.

Just returned from a mon/ fri break in these beautifully equipped lodges. Everything has been thought about for the kitchen , definitely good quality furniture and the bathroom was just lovely . The whole lodge was not only spotless but shiny in bathroom and kitchen areas. Made use of the hot tub daily and really feel the break was just what we hoped. Great, well stocked shop on site .....4* rating from us and will certainly return to this lovely ,quiet well laid out site .

These lodges are in a lovely location in a very idyllic part of the countryside. A quiet country lane takes you through a small local village and pub (within walking distance) to a beautifully laid out site. The lodges are in great condition and are impressive inside in terms of size, facilities, decor and comfort. Our one had a hot tub on the veranda and watching the stars from there was enchanting (very little light pollution). The site has some nice large play areas for children and has a woodland nature trail at the far end. The site shop is surprisingly well stocked for the size of the site and this is due to it being the local store for the nearby village (reasonable prices too). The site is family managed and this shows in the welcoming and friendly way you are received there.
