We had such a lovely welcome to Gavelcroft - a delightful 16th century farmhouse in rural Suffolk. It had been recommended to us by friends and our experience confirmed theirs of a really comfortable room in a peaceful home with everything we needed including a delicious breakfast and interesting, helpful conversations with Sarah and Mike. Very definitely somewhere we'd recommend...

I recently stayed a couple of days at Gavelcroft and wished it could have been longer. My room downstairs backed on to the lovely garden and fields beyond. Everything was spick and span, the bed very comfortable. Like other reviewers, I too really enjoyed the breakfasts. Many thanks to the wonderful, hugely knowledgeable Mike and Sarah for making my stay...

This was our third visit to Gavelcroft & once again we loved it. Clean, cosy, quiet and relaxing. We stayed in the upstairs room which had plenty of space, and a lovely comfortable bed, nice views over the garden and orchard. My sister and brother in law stayed in the downstairs bedroom with comfortable twin beds. We had wonderful breakfasts with...

My partner and myself and our 3year old stayed at Gravelcroft on Boxing Day and found it to be very accommodating and friendly. Both Sarah and Mike made all of us feel very welcome especially our son. The room was warm and comfortable and we never felt pressured to leave. The breakfast was a big hit with us all. We...

My boyfriend and I stayed in Gavelcroft for two nights for easy access to the High Tide Festival (see below - well worth attending!). We stayed in the upstairs room with views of the garden and orchard, and its own access door, and found it comfortable and cosy - tea/coffee-making facilities, towels, very spacious and clean. It's a 15th century...

My mother and I stayed one night at Gavelcroft after she sold her home in nearby Halesworth. We stayed in the twin bedded room, which was comfortable and had its own bath with a large shower, and a fridge and space for making tea and coffee. the decor was relaxing. Upon arrival we were presented with a tray of tea,...

Spent a comfortable night here followed by a very good breakfast. The welcome was friendly and the rooms clean Only a couple of small points let it down. When we checked in we noticed that the towels appeared damp in the bathroom, but we dried them out on the towel rail. Small details let it down, eg a mish mash...

We have been to Gavelcroft twice now and intend to do so again in 2010. There are two rooms available, as we have two young children we have always stayed in the large upstairs room which has great views over Gavelcroft's orchard. Plently of room to spread out, magazines to read and tea & coffee available. Great breakfasts and a...

Stayed for one night but wished we'd booked in for longer. Gavelcroft is a lovely b&b in Holton, near Halesworth. Overall standard of accommodation is very good - fresh flowers in the room, with plenty of books and magazines, and you have a great view of an orchard out the back. Room has own entrance so you're free to come...
