Great place, great food. Silence. The owner was very receptive and had a great attitude. The location is very good. The room (the house) was clean and cozy. The yard offer a delight view with lots of flowers, a little pond with fishes (and 2-3 frogs:) ). Good choice !
I was a bit scared before coming here because, while searching for accommodation in Cheile Nerei-Beusnita, I had come across a lot of bad reviews related to customer service in most of the accommodation options in the area. It is true that no such review was written about Casa cu Roți, but I was still nervous. However, the pension completely surpassed any expectation we had! The staff, starting from the owner who I discussed the booking with, to the employees at the reception/restaurant, were great, always very polite, kind and helpful. You can have breakfast, lunch or dinner at their restaurant at very reasonable prices (dinner was 25 lei or something like this, can't remember for sure). We only had dinner (but twice) and the food was incredibly good. It is mainly traditional food, but cooked very professionally and with great service. We didn't find the coffee too good, though. The rooms are in small separate cabins, so you won't be bothered by noise from other rooms. They are decorated in a traditional style and are very clean and well-equipped, as is the bathroom. We loved that we had a small terrace in front of our room and two chaise-longs to enjoy the great August weather. The pension also has a really beautiful garden, full of flowers and greenery, with canopy swings you can sit on. It is really a great place to just relax! Now, for the prices, they were mid-range (a bit towards the higher end) compared to the other accommodation options, but the differences are pretty small, especially if you only stay one or two nights and the facilities and quality of service make it all worth it. Also, it is worth noting that it is located in Sasca Română (along with only 1 or 2 other accommodations), not Sasca Montană, so closer to the actual entrance in the National Park (but more on this below). Be prepared for a really really bad road full of holes that can seriously damage your car if you don't drive with 20-30 km/h after leaving Oravița and getting on the county road. As I said, it is located in Sasca Română, so it's a great place to stay if you are interested in probably the nicest hike of the National Park: The Rock Tunnels (La Tunele) - Ochiul Beiului Lake - Beusnița Waterfall. From the pension you only have to walk 5-10 minutes and you reach the entrance in the National Park (where there is also a small souvenir shop - you can also get water here!). Then follow "La Tunele" or "Podul Bei" signs. You will cross a suspended bridge over the river Nera, which is actually a really exciting and seemingly dangerous (but actually safe) activity. After 20-30 minutes or so, you will reach the tunnels, then Podul Bei, which is a point you can also reach by car from the village Potoc (but don't do it, the tunnel hike is amazing). The hike from Casa cu Roți to Podul Bei will take you 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes. From there, you can go to Ochiul Beiului Lake (2 more hours) and then to Beușnița Waterfall (15-20 more minutes). The hike is very easy for the most part, the Tunnels section being the hardest. However, it is beautiful, so do it. If you have one more day, you can go by car in Sasca Montană and do the hike to Șușara Waterfall (quite nice waterfall, but what's really great is the hike itself) and/or go to one of the villages close to Devil's Lake (Lacul Dracului) and do this hike. We did not have the time to do this, but as a general rule it's better to ask at the pension and they will tell you exactly how long everything takes. Also as a tip, the Sasca Montană - Șușara hike is less than 2 hours the round trip, so you can also do it the day you arrive or the day you leave. Overall, this is an amazing place to spend your Cheile Nerei - Beușnița trip. I wholeheartedly recommend it!…
I've stayed there for a few days, and I really loved it! Once you get to their doors, you can hardly guess the paradise hidden inside. The small wooden cabins are traditional and very cozy, and there's also a nice playground for the kids. The tenants are really great people, and they will do anything to make you feel welcome and comfortable.
I stayed at this pension 3 years ago, and this year we decided to go for a long weekend to Cheile Nerei and we choosed the same b&b as last time. The personal is very helpful. Food is great. Rooms are clean, the yard where the pension is dreamy. You have available sunbeds in case you would just like to relax all day long.
The food was good and the plates are big. The staff is friendly and helpful; they give us good advices for our trips in the area. The views from the courtyard are great and if it in sunny you can have a sunbath. We loved our time there.
