Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place proudly display the lucky country we live in. They can cater for a variety of travellers from singles to groups. The breathtaking views and picturesque sunsets are in abundance there. Children can closely interact with the residential animals and they offer loads of activities like clay shooting, 4WD tracks, quad bike and horse riding where you can explore the property and all it has to offer. The staff are genuine and very accommodating to ensure you enjoy your stay. The Homestead shows off its rustic look with an amazing fireplace for those cooler nights. If you want to create everlasting family memories, relax and experience what our country is really about then I highly recommend a stay here.

Visited Cherrabah Resort on a whim on the Anzac Day long weekend when we found everything close by to be booked out for camping.
The lovely Jess from Cherrabah was happy to accommodate us for 2 nights on a powered site even though the booking website said Sat nite was unavailable.
There are 6 powered sites. We couldn't believe there was only another 2 lots of campers on the property.
The large unpowered area had nobody on it.
The Cherrabah Resort itself is very sad and rundown and we were disappointed to find the bar was only opened until 4pm on the Sat and Sun and the restaurant was not opened at all.
However the camping area itself has beautiful views over the lake and overlooks the mountain ranges.
Camp-fires are allowed. There are activities such as bush walking, kayaking, fishing, 4WD tracks and horse riding.
There was plenty of hotwater for showers, however if the camping area had been full, the 2 showers and 3 toilet facility would have really struggled with extra people. As it was the women's and men's toilets kept blocking up.
There are no kitchen facilities so take plenty of water.
There is no shade on the powered sites, so it would be very hot in summer.
Would we visit again...definitely but probably would take our own shower and toilet facilities.
The resort has so much potential...its a shame its in such a rundown state.

The staff are friendly and helpful. The place is very relaxed, a good place to sit back and unwind. The views are amazing, However, the rooms are very run down. No internet or TV whist we were there. The restaurant is really old and really needs modernizing. The resort is o k for a quick stop over.

The room was below normal standard - no bed side tables or microwave despite being advertised as being included. The blanket for the bed had satin edging which was frayed and split. This type of blanket was popular 40 years ago, When I asked for a glass of shiraz at the resort bar, it took several minutes for the bar staff to locate a bottle. The waitress took the cap off, had a sniff at the wine and proceeded to tell me that it was alright. I could only drink one mouthful and left it, to be later cleared away. I could have rejected the wine but did not want to make a scene with everyone around me.

Booked in here when Warwick ran out of room due to a busy wedding weekend. This is more of a Bush retreat rather than a resort. Our room was clean and recently renovated. Basic and simple. Good home cooked fare. Fabulous sunsets and sunrises. Renee was superb thank you.

This is basically a "Get what you pay for" place.
It wasn't too pricey so I was content with the overall experience.
The place could use a little love, but staff where friendly.
In an area where there are not too many other options, this place will be ok to stay.

This place should be closed DOWN, the website does not do it any justice, it is false advertising, the rooms are old, the beds are hard, the tv does not work and is old, the bathroom is old, the food is shocking, the dining area is like an old chinese restaurant, the activities what... they don't always have them, breakfast well its the same people who do horse riding who serve food, atmosphere what atmosphere no shows or nothing, I had the worst time of life and WOULD NOT EVER EVER recommend this place, I might as well have stayed in a tent

Stayed for several days. Cannot fault the staff - they are incredibly helpful and obliging. Unfortunately Cherrabah is in desperate need of extensive work both within the grounds and the rooms. It is obvious there has been an attempt at renovating the rooms, beds looked reasonably new, but the curtains were sheer, too long for the floor which made the room look shabby. Screens didn't fit window frames, the kitchenette is tiny and there is nowhere to put basics for tea/coffee. Bathroom blinds were torn and hanging. Frustratingly there was nowhere to place things ie: buffet or chest of drawers so everything had to be left on the floor which is annoying for travellers staying more than a night or two.
The children's playground and surrounding areas leading to the main building are neglected and depressing to look at. Suggest it either be completely cleared out or new equipment put in rather than just leaving it, as it's one of the first things you see coming into the resort (first impressions).
The food was generally good, although prices were not that reasonable given it was a conference package ($10 for afternoon tea which on some occasions just a piece of fruit and a cuppa).
It would be good if the outside lights were turned off at some time during the night as the curtains are so sheer the room was lit up all night. It would've been nice to enjoy the stars !
The surrounding area is so lovely to walk around it is a real shame the actual resort has been left to rundown. It would be lovely to see some renovations in the future.

Overall the resort is run down and tired. Charged 5 star rate for -1 star accommodation. Booking was incorrect, food was bland and poor standard (mould on the bread for toasting at buffet). Door to unit would not close without force, tongue on door lock back to front. Bed was old and sagged in the middle, ok if you like sleeping literally, on top of your partner. Springs were easily felt in worn areas of the mattress. Steps to entrance we rotten and friend fell through, thankfully not injuring themselves, just a fright. Floor on veranda was rotten and hand rails not to safety specifications. Children could almost walk under the lowest rail. Viewing swings scattered around the property we rusted and falling over, not to mention dirty and un-usable. Amenities for the camping area have wildlife living in them and excrement everywhere - totally not presentable for human use - though we were told we could camp here and use the facilities. Really, they must have been joking. Rubbish scattered around in the bush and dam/lake. Water totally unsuitable for drinking or walking your teeth but ok for showing, if you keep your mouth closed.
Seriously the Southern Downs Regional Council needs to review their operating licence, which we will be recommending.

My apologies for not responding sooner to your review. As of 1st May Cherrabah Resort has been under NEW MANAGEMENT. We are addressing the issues you have raised, new beds, refurbishment of the rooms, some rooms have already been completed. As we don't have a sauna on the property I am assuming you are referring to the spas. Which are about to be removed and replaced with a new outdoor spa alongside the swimming pool. New activities have been put in place for our guest to enjoy. Please be assured I have addressed the housekeeping and reception issues with the relevant department heads. I don't believe as the manager of the resort I had any conversation with you in regards to any of the above issues. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly
