Bunks, cabins, tepees. This place had it all. We stayed in a tepee. Bring your own sleeping bag and fire wood. Although you can hire bedding if needed. Great atmosphere. Rough road of seven miles or so to get there. But it slows you rather than stopping you. Great old bar next door and the mercantile opens at seven am...

If you want to visit an outside toilet, have no internet or electricity for a few days then this is the place for you. But that's the whole point. And it's wonderful. It would benefit from a road sign saying Polebridge about 20 miles earlier as the dirt track here is confusing in darkness. But the raw experience of nature,...

There's something about this place that seems to bring out the best in people--I didn't meet an unfriendly face in the whole week I spent here. The proprietor, Oliver, is very helpful, but can be no-nonsense. It's hard to accommodate a large group of people in a place where water, electricity, and Internet access is scarce! So, if you go,...

Loved our stay at the Square Peg Cabin, a rustic homestead a stone's throw from the Polebridge Mercantile. Being greeted by the genuinely friendly owner and shown the basics of lighting a propane lamp (the only source of light 'sides the good Lord's golden orb) was a bit unnerving for us city dwellers, but we quickly settled into the off-the-gird...

My best friend and I worked in Glacier Nat'l Park in college and go back whenever we can. We'd visited Polebridge several times, but never spent the night. Square Peg was perfect; comfortable and homey. You should know, though, that Polebridge is totally off the grid, which means using an outhouse (some properties have septic, but not this one), propane...

The owner of the place loved visiting the hostel for many years that much that he bought it about 12 years ago. He creates a special welcoming place for all visitors. Great kitchen. I highly recommend staying in tipis, very unique experience, you can even make a fire in them. There are cabins and dorm rooms as well. If you...

This was our last stop on our road trip around America. To be perfectly honest it just couldn't have ended any better, we spent 4 fantastic nights in the Green Zucchini. When reading reviews on the Zucchini I was a little worried about the size of the bed but I am 6ft3 and had no problems with comfort even though...

Been to Polebridge many times but first stay at the hostel. First, bikers beware. The dirt road is long, and the dust is choking and constant. No alternatives, this road goes right to the Candian border and stops. The 'town' of Polebridge consists of a bakery/barebones store, a restaurant open for dinner, and the hostel, which is wonderful. Its in...

Location! Location! Location! A different type of hostel Hidden next to Glacier National Park. First was access to the park and wild lands of Montana as close to wilderness anywhere in the lower 48 states. We chose the cabin. The proprietor, Oliver, and other travelers were quite helpful in sharing the secerts of the area. Great hiking in the park and...

“see above. dogs are allowed in cabins and tipis but not in the house - it matters for people who have allergies. There is a cat in the house but he does not seem to visit the rooms upstairs since I have severe cat allergies but I was ok upstairs.”

“The Green Zucchini is my favorite, but the bed is small so if you're sharing, you should be close. (I went with a close friend and then a cousin, so it was fine.) The cabins are also really wonderful. I would recommend staying out in the yard instead of inside the house-- it's more like camping but a little bit warmer!”
