Gili Lankanfushi Maldives is a short 20 minute boat ride from Male, the capital of the Maldives. It is a tiny coral island in a sparkling lagoon, with jetties threading across the water out to spacious villas. The forty four stilted villas plus the vast Private Reserve are crafted in a traditional style from natural materials and offer rooftop and over-water sundecks, featuring open air bathrooms, sumptuous daybeds and a personal entertainment center. For ultimate privacy, we have seven Crusoe Residences that are only accessible by personal boat. Come ashore for some great dining and equally great wines or perhaps a romantic moonlit dinner delivered right to the villa. The possibilities are endless. The interior decoration has been devised to recreate a natural habitat, using sustainable woods, natural materials and traditional fabrics, whilst still offering all the modern day amenities and creature comforts of true luxury. At Gili Lankanfushi, Maldives we are very sensitive to the environment. The utmost care has been taken in developing the island with respect to its ecological balance. The Maldives is a paradise for snorkeling and diving and the resort has its own fully equipped PADI diving school plus a variety of water sports. This place tops the list of must-do destinations for those seeking the aquatic paradise.

Hotel's Favourite
Gili Lankanfushi is certainly not like anyone of those island-hotel-resorts you have been to in the Maldives !!! Although it caters to a sophisticated high-end well-travelled population, they conjugate “luxury” at the simple present tense. The most important word here is “simple” and it is synonymous of “natural”. Simple & natural as the heavenly beauty of its site : just check a few of my pictures posted and you will have a visual translation of it. Simple & natural as the accommodation. We have gone with the utmost experience which we can recommend to you without reservation. The Sunset Crusoe Villas will plunge you in the middle of the lagoon as if you were alone on this island ... Simple & natural as the design, decoration and raw materials for all the villas. Needless to say that you will feel the luxury, the utmost comfort but you will not see it. The color coding and material choice are simple and natural : wood, palm, glass, cotton and linen for the materials, while the colors go from pale grey, white, sand, and natural wood. How can you go wrong ?!... The designer studio which excelled in this exercise has clearly opted for giving the nature the place it deserved : the blues of the sky and of the waters, the yellow of the sun, the white of the sand and the green of the luxuriant nature, are the only elements of color in the resort. Simple & natural in the service offered with so much attention, generosity, and true care by the local & international team. You do not know when they sleep as you see them all day and night - like a swarm of bees - by you when you need them and vanishing in their bee hive to allow you to have your privacy and feel detached from the societal environment. Simple & natural like all the genuine products of the earth and of the sea that Executive Chef Harry along with F&B Manager Rodrigo will be composing with mastery to offer you the most varied and unlimited fooding experience as we haven’t had in a long time. Simple & natural as the activities you will try like we did, ranging from a romantic dinner on the sand bar under the stars, a sunset in this rustic but über-luxurious small wood sailboat, a snorkeling moment on the reef by day or by night, a detox relaxing afternoon at the Spa floating on the turquoise waters of the lagoon and receiving healing treatments by Sara, or any of the other therapists. Simple & natural as the management team from GM David, Deputy GM Nicolas, E.Chef Harry, F&B Manager Rodrigo, Maître D’ Siyam, and our amazingly devoted “Friday” : Mister Fiyaz himself ! Simple & natural as - last but not least - the guests during the week of our stay : so discrete and friendly, so much in adequacy with the spirit, the values and the DNA of this one-of-a-kind island-hotel !!! I am thrilled to have experienced with my partner this exceptional holiday and - needless to say - that we will be back sooner than later : we will book the very same villa as we felt it was our new home !...

My wife and I had the utmost privilege of spending 10 days with the lovely folks at Gili Lankanfushi. It was our first trip to the Maldives and our “second honeymoon”. Prior to our departure we were scouting out many resorts in the Maldives and eventually chose Gili. And Boy, did we hit the jackpot. The resort: Located in the North Male Atoll just 20 mins from Male Airport by Speed Boat, Gili Lankanfushi creates a whole level of “natural chic luxury” which cannot be matched by many other destinations. It is a place as close to paradise as possible. The close proximity to Male does have the negative side effect of hearing/seeing lots of planes and ships throughout the day but in our opinion it was not distractive at all. The island itself spurs beaches with soft white sand, crystal clear warm turquoise water, lush jungle paths, spectacular wildlife (sharks, turtles, rays, fish, corals, bats, birds, lizards, crabs) and a variety of absolutely spectacular Over-Water-villas. The accommodation: said over-water-villas are one of the visual gems of Gili. They stand in the sparkling water like a monument of what vacation in the Maldives should look like. My wife and I stayed in the Crusoe Sunset Villa…a magnificent 245 m2 villa that is entirely engulfed by water. This setting plunges you right into the ocean and makes you feel as if you were there all by yourself. This is quiet simply an unparalleled experience. The design, smell and decoration of this villa as well as the usage of natural material oozes tropical luxury through every creek. From the outside it might look like adventurous and simple but in the inside you will feel and see the luxury as the equipment and furniture leave nothing left to desire. The villa blends in perfectly with the surrounding, you will love every second you stay in there. While you spend your time in of the perfectly designed rooms, the always warm water or in the water hammock (what a nice little treat), you will most likely get up close and personal with the aquatic life. We were greeted by reef sharks (perfectly harmless fellows), eagle rays and a colourful batch of fish. Just bear in mind that the sound of the waves moving against the villa during high tide might disturb you (which can happen in the middle of the night). The Gili way of life: “No shoes, no news”. This is the slogan that you will hear, once you board Gili’s speed boat that picks you up from the Airport. A friendly staff member will ask you kindly to take off your shoes and put them in a duffel bag. You will only get back to the concept of wearing shoes once you leave the resort. This barefoot experience - albeit strange to newcomers - is probably the most ingenious concept of Gili as it naturally makes everyone on the island feel relaxed and laid back. Furthermore: you will not need shoes anyway, the sand, pavements and general materials you walk on are so soft that wearing shoes is not needed. But don’t worry. You don’t have to walk only. you may also use your personal bamboo bikes to explore the island. The variety of services and excursions one can undergo will certainly please any visitor in need of relaxation and fun. The service: Feel the need to be pampered? Gili has you covered! You will be assigned your personal butler, a Mr. or Mrs. “Friday” (one for the airport to take care of your luggage and transport and one while you are at the resort). The name originates from Daniel Defoe’s classic “Robinson Crusoe” and rightfully so: your Friday will be as busy, courteous, loyal, well-spirited and reliable as Crusoe’s trustworthy servant. Your “friday” will always be available for you like a busy bee and will work tirelessly for your well-being which begs the question if the Fridays actually do manage to get some sleep. But also every other other member of the staff will treat you with the utmost warm professional courtesy from the beginning to the end. Covid_19 protocol was handled well and professional. Special thanks to Zubba (our fantastic Mr. Friday), Faris, Mohamed, Fareeh, Rodrigo (food and beverage manager) and resort manager Nicolas. We are grateful for your services and kindness from the bottom of our hearts. The food: it can only be described as an explosion of tastes. The resort has 3 main restaurants, Kashiveli (for breakfast and different themed dinners) the Overwater-Bar (for drinks, lunch and occasional themed dinners) and By the Sea (a Japanese restaurant which is so popular that you need to book it in advance). Even if you stay longer you will never stop being amazed at what the chefs can create. Breakfast buffet is vast, colourful and rich in flavour, the different themed dinners (Indian Tandoori Night or Asian street market) are a treat to your senses and the cocktail selection is marvellous. Nothing will taste stale, everything is as fresh as possible. And if you wish to have a romantic dinner, there are plenty of spots and opportunities for private dining and the staff - as usual - will go out of their way to create something unique for you. Like any other thing in Gili, eating and drinking is a magnificent experience. We ate and drink like Royalties. For my wife’s birthday, the staff created an amazing dining experience unmatched by anything we have seen. The price: The Maldives are for various obvious reasons not cheap and neither is Gili, especially during high season. Consider that almost everything needs to be imported. Resorts like this one demand a reach into your deeper pockets. However: unlike what we have heart from other Resorts, Gili's price policy is fair and transparent. With half or full board you get a splendid variety of food and drink. Soda and coffee in your room is complimentary and even at the beach you will always get free water and sometimes other non alcoholic drinks for free. Some water sport utilities such as snorkelling equipment or paddle boats can also be used for free. Also: Prices for services, experiences and alcoholic beverages are somewhat reasonable and you will not get a bad surprise when you check the final bill. Personally I think the experience was absolutely worth the price tag. The summary: In case you wish to experience the Maldives…experience Gili. We promise you will never regret it. This is what vacationing is meant to be. if you are interested in seeing pictures, consider visiting our instagram pages (schurti1 and denisa.marie46).

It's hard to describe a stay at Gili Lankanfushi as it is difficult to understand the level of service, excellence and luxury they provide on a daily basis without having experienced it yourself. We stayed here as a family (2 adults + 2 and 7 year old) for 4 nights and time simply slipped through our fingers as quickly as the soft sand of its very own beaches. The relaxed atmosphere makes you slow down just that little bit more, taking it all in an enjoying the overal experience more profoundly. I mean, anyone who has indulged in the breakfast at Gili can testify that it's the perfect way to start the day. Literally everything you can think of is available and if not you just ask for it and they will accommodate to the best of their abilities. I still dream about the beautiful cold room which is more like a treasure trove as it features everything from quality cold cuts to fresh sashimi and sushi all the way to flavourful chocolates and an endless choice of honey. Lund and dinner are equally impressive and the quality of the food (and service) never seems to change. Only the best and freshest will do. There is no kids club on the island but our kids never got bored. The stand-out for me was the fact that Mr Friday took our oldest son along to the tailor to take his measurements. A few hours later a perfectly customized Mr Friday uniform got delivered at our villa in order for our son to join the real Mr Friday during his duties. The proud look on his face will forever be engraved in our memories. Not to mention the fact that he also received private buggy driving lessons, resulting in a private drivers license (no worries, only valid on the island)! And that's just one simple example of how they entertain the guests that bring along their kids. It is not just one club or person taking care of them, it is the whole team that is constantly enthusiastic when they see the little ones and will interact with them whenever they can. Truly next level and more importantly very personal service. Another massive plus is the location. It's just a 20 min boat ride from the airport. We timed it and from de-boarding the plane to setting foot on Gili Lankanfushi took us 55min!! Special activities like a private jungle cinema or sleeping under the stars are just the norm here and if you plan to stay at multiple resorts in the Maldives I suggest you keep Gili till the end, in order not to ruin the experience at the other places as it will be hard to match. I can go on and on but you get the message,...this is true luxury and you need to experience it to believe/understand it. Hope to return in the future (maybe without the kids to enjoy it even more) as part of us is still on the island!

I just don’t know where to start from with the magnificent experience I had at gili lankafushi. The whole property is designed in a way as it’s part of nature. Every thing is over here is so natural and raw, untouched. The cherry on the cake is the 24/7 personalised services Mr. Friday the are very helpful and one stop need for everything, my Mr. Friday was Zubba, he managed everything for us from activities, personalised food and anything else you need at gili lankafushi. Must try Dolphin Cruise, wine and cheese tour, water sports and food which is prepared from their organic garden

The difference is that the lagoon villa has a private water hammock and it is located at the sunset side of the island. Hope this helps.
