Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have read some bad reviews about this campsite, but honestly, the owners must have taken note as we had a great overnight stay here. Its Laura, so don't expect much grass, but what you can expect is to be nicely received and to have a shower is what must be one of the cleanest showers up towards the cape. Head out to the front of the pub just before sunset to see a large flock of galas hanging out and flying around as the sun sets. Nice stay here.

Upon reading past reviews, we were not sure what to expect here. We were pleasantly surprised at the helpful hospitality of the staff as well as the clean amenities as well. Great value and pleasant stay. Thank you.

What Stu has done to this place in honour of his mate Kev is very heart warming. Stu made us feel so welcome and accommodated to all of our needs. A big clean pub with plenty of heart, cold beers & great food. Footy on the big screen and very friendly service. Stu went out of his way to keep the kids entertained. The campground out the back is very well maintained & felt very safe, nice grassy sites with power and water if needed. The amenities were also a pleasant surprise, very nice & clean. We are so glad we stopped on our way up and back from the cape and would strongly recommend everyone else does the same. You won’t regret supporting these guys.

The man was so rude to us, I would recommend NOT staying here and staying elsewhere, I asked for laundry facilities to be told a firm and solid aggressive NO. I then found a laundry with working machines the day of our departure, we got charged adult prices for our kids. Female amenities block has a hole in the floor at entrance. The lady at general store next door was a lovely lady and we went and spent money there, and chose to cook instead of having a pub meal.

Immaculately presented lil’l country pub. Big well cared for campsites and the cleanest amenities VERY..!!! Publican and team are really friendly & extremely welcoming. Beautiful pub meals available and the crew here are happy to accommodate slight alterations for dietary requirements.
One of the best places up the whole East Coast. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A great place to camp. Clean ammenities and a wonderful grassed camping site. The meals were fantastic and the beer was cold.
We were heading north from here to the Tip.
Stu has a secure caravan parking area for a small nightly fee. Certainly saves taking the van on the dirt roads.
We can highly recommend.

DON’T STAY HERE!
From the moment we drove through the gate to look at the campground the caretaker (Kevin) rushed out and greeted us with rudeness! The other campers in the campground that night all had a similar experience with him. Amenities were located in “old portable site shed” and in poor shape with holes in floor.
There’s way to many nice places to stay on your way to the Cape filled with people that want your business!

Best way to begin or end your trip to the Tip of Cape York.
The lovely old hotel has been renovated since the demise of the previous owner and looks amazing. Very friendly welcoming atmosphere and delicious, fresh and tasty pub menu is available. Very generous portions and very reasonably priced.
The toilet and showers in the campground are clean and new.
The sites, both caravan and tent, are shady and grassy. Powered and unpowered are available.
Water also available.
