We stayed in the September school holidays - 2 adults and 2 kids. We had 4 wonderful nights at Cumberland with Tima and the team. We stayed in Unit 10 which is the house and it was amazing! Fully equipped, plenty of space, clean and very comfortable. The highlight though was the wonderful staff! I emailed Tima before we arrived and enquired about a birthday cake for my daughter turning 6. She not only made the cake (to order ... upon my daughters request for an Oreo cake), she went out of her way to find a #6 candle, balloons, a sign and other decorations ... it was there waiting for us when we got back from our morning out and about (and it was delicious). We were all so touched at the effort the Tima went too! The resort is in a good location - close to town but not in the Main Street, the gardens and spa pool were beautifully looked after (the kids had a couple of fun afternoons in the spa pool.... nice and warm).

We stayed here for 5 nights. The resort arranges a bus transfer from the airport. Like most Norfolk properties, it looks old but has beautiful gardens. Our unit was the 1 bedroom and was bright and modern inside, with plenty of space and all facilities. The bathroom was modern and the kitchen was a full kitchen. Good lounge with all tv channels as well as Foxtel, and dvds available from reception. There were even lovely bathrobes which was useful as the mornings and evenings got a bit chilly. The manager was helpful and available. There is an on-site pool and a useful guest laundry. There is a small amount of free wifi but you can purchase more, but like all resources on the island it is expensive and limited. We had a car but could easily walk to shops and restaurants. We were even provided with a mobile phone. We really enjoyed our time here and were surprised how quiet it was given its proximity to town. I am surprised by some of the negatives mentioned in these reviews. Norfolk Island is not the place to go for 5 star luxury and endless facilities and resources, but it is a brilliant place for beautiful countryside, cliffs, beaches, food and friend,y people. We really enjoyed our stay.

We had a week here to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and imagine our surprise when we walked in and there was champagne and chocolate, bed decorated and wine sent from mainland friends who obviously told staff of the occasion. Timah and the staff were so friendly and we were reminded of Fiji as a few of the staff were lovely smiling Fijians. We had a spa villa with a covered patio at each end, a kitchen, two bathrooms, living room and comfy bed. The breakfast provisions to start the holiday were very much appreciated. We had been to Norfolk Island many many years previously and knew that we wanted to stay in Burnt Pine and walk to most places. We also had a vehicle which came with the accommodation. Thanks for a memorable time.

We just got back from a wonderful week on Norfolk Island. Yes not the newest place we have stayed at but our Villa was very clean and while only booking a 1 bedroom ended up with 2 bedrooms. Location was good close to town for tour pick-ups, but on 5 min drive to Kingston area or anywhere on the Island. We were caught with with the latest lockdown with New Zealand, Tima kept us updated as to what was happening. We were hoping our holiday might have been extended for a day or two but flow out on time.

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide a review. We are pleased that you enjoyed the central location which is important for tour pick ups, and for strolling to the shops, cafes and restaurants. Cumberland is the only accommodation property with its own covered bus stop right outside the resort, which is essential for tour pickups.

We expected a “resort” which this property does not live up to in any sense. This is more a motel built around a car park with a above ground communal spa in one corner. Property is dated and in need of maintenance and upgrading. For example our patio was the storeroom for a spare washing machine. Rooms do not have a view, many other properties on the island do. Car provided as part of package was on its last legs.

Unfortunately, these guests had the expectation of a resort like the Bali Hyatt or Tahiti Sheraton. They clearly came to the wrong island, as there are no such accommodation properties on Norfolk Island. However, Cumberland Resort and Spa has more facilities and amenities than virtually any other accommodation on Norfolk Island, and has recently been extensively renovated and completely modernized. It is the only 4-star accommodation property in the Golden Mile of Burnt Pine, which is the most desirable location - just a short stroll to shops, cafes, and restaurants. It also features excellent free wi-fi, heated swim spa pool, ensuite spa bathrooms, fully equipped stainless steel kitchens, King beds, onsite day spa, only accommodation property with Foxtel in every villa, free movie library, sauna, late model guest rental cars, etc. The resort also provides free airport transfers and free guided half day tour. Their patio certainly was not a storeroom for a spare washing machine. Every villa has its own patio with private BBQ. A washing machine was simply being relocated by the plumber while a new machine was installed and was temporarily positioned near their patio.
