A really great place to stay very close to the shopping centre of the island. The service from staff was fantastic. The room was large and very comfortable with beautiful views over the island.
The room was clean, relatively new and very spacious.
There is a free washing machine (1) to use if needed and shared clothes lines. The internet is good for the island and reliable.
The bar at the hotel includes a local brewery with $5 pints on Wednesday afternoon for a few hours. Very popular spot. Will stay here again.

The owners and staff were very accommodating and easy to get on with. A hire car, which was essential, was part of the cost of staying and of the highest quality. The rooms were cleaned by friendly and competent staff daily except Sunday. The rooms are a little dated and needed some air flow, but were large, well serviced and had good cooking facilities. Access to a laundry was an added bonus. The bed was comfortable. The bar was open at times with a good brewery and a lovely deck, excellent meals and a great Pizza night on Fridays. The hotel is walking distance from town. We really enjoyed our stay and would return.

Everything about Castaway is fantastic. Rooms are comfortable and well maintained, we stayed in the self contained room and it was spacious and everything we needed for a week on the island. Meals in the restaurant were delicious and the beer from their brewery went down a treat. Hosts Sarah & Tony along with their team were a delight from the moment we walked in being greeted with a cold drink on a warm day after a long days travel. Relaxed and happy place that we will definitely go back to again when visiting the island.

We stayed four nights at Castaway in a Banyan View Apartment. The apartment was self-catering (as most places on the island seem to be), it was clean, had a comfortable bed, fresh linen, everything we needed in the kitchenette & dining/loungeroom area. However, the stand-out feature for us was how friendly and helpful the managers and staff were. This started from when we were making the booking & continued throughout our stay. The hotel is also walking distance to cafes, clubs & shops. Recommended.

Daz and I had a great time.
The rooms were spacious and the hosts (Tony and Sarah) were always available to help.
Location > Great.
Food > Delicious.
Micro-brewery > Check.
We could walk across the road to the RSL for free wifi or get a Telecom account for 20$ for 10 hours with unlimited downloads.

We stayed at Castaway for 9 days. It was supposed to be 7 days but thanks to cyclone Dovi we had an extended holiday! We had a self contained unit. The amenities in the kitchen were adequate for our needs and we were able to Cook the fish we caught in our fishing trips. Sarah and Tony go out of their way to do what they can to make it a pleasant stay. Unfortunately, they were put under the pump due to some staff illness which meant the usual room service was not done. However, we were happy to just get our clean towels and make our own bed each day to reduce the load on them. The bed was comfortable. The location is lovely. The brewery is a plus but again it was closed more than open during our stay. The Friday pizza night is excellent and requires booking. We would have gone back for a second time when we couldn’t leave the island but again, it was closed🥴. Not their fault, all of the glitches were out of their control. No matter how friendly and helpful they were, they were battling the odds during our stay. I imagine when things calm down, things would be even better. We would stay there again but not until covid settles and hopefully might get better weather. Again, totally out of everyone’s control. Wish Sarah and Tony and their lovely staff all the best.

We had a great holiday on Norfolk highly recommended and so lucky that Castaway Motel/Brewery was our accommodation.
Tony and Sarah couldn't do enough for you, staff were friendly, professional and you could see they enjoyed working there.
Make sure you make bookings for the Pizza night and Sunday roast and keep Wednesday afternoon free for the long HAPPY HOUR....

First impression was a few loose pieces of slate at the front entrance, we were part of a group of seniors so everyone was made aware. The staff were friendly and helpful the room was quiet, and we could sit outside and watch the kingfishers dive for their tasty morsels. There was a number of OH& S issues that l didn't feel were taken seriously. although "waiting for the boat to come with supplies" is a very common catch cry l thought more could have been done in the meantime to make the surrounds feel safer for us to get around

Tony and Sarah are excellent hosts and very accommodating to your needs. Our room was basic but comfortable. The bed was very comfy. Large bathroom and excellent shower head.
I would have liked drawers or shelves to put clothes on as there was only hanging space which did add a bit of clutter in the room. Also WiFi didn't last long if you're using social media for sending messages etc and it was expensive. No mobile coverage but local calls were free.
Having the use of a kitchen and washing machine with clothes line was a bonus.
I would recommend the Castaway to friends as a great location to stay given the walking distance to all the restaurants and shopping in the town as a cherry on the top of being a great accommodation for visitors to Norfolk Island.

We stayed at Castaway for 7 nights in a motel-style room. It was spacious and had all we needed. Room included its own bathroom, free-to-air TV, small table & chairs, outdoor seating, a small fridge and a kettle. There is also a handy shared kitchen you can use if you want to cook your own meals. Location is handy to town. Situated at the southern end of Burnt Pine it is walkable to most shops for those with reasonable mobility. Partial views of the ocean from some rooms. The brewery is excellent. Great spot on the deck to sit and waste away the hours. Friendly staff.
