Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We stayed in these apartments as a family group. Apartments were spacious but had a stale odour, which was blamed on being shut up for 6 months during COVID. Leaving the window open for our whole stay failed to remove this smell. Our apartment had mould in the bathroom (which they attempted to clean when we mentioned it) and all through the wardrobe. The bathroom had not been cleaned properly and general cleanliness throughout the apartment and complex was not good. The BBQ bathroom still had the same towels and dead bugs when we left 9 days later. It was very humid and with no aircon on the island (I normally hate aircon), keeping things dry was a challenge and the provided fan was used all night to attempt to get some airflow. Other apartments with front & back windows had less issues as they got the cross breeze but apartments downstairs only had front windows. I had to wash everything when I returned home, even clothes unworn, because they were damp and smelly.

Quiet location large living area, bedroom with ensuite and kitchen. The accommodation is quite dated as depicted in the photos although clean. Balcony railing gaps may be an issue with small children. Good value.

There’s so much room in these apartments, and on the verandah ( with view) that you could hold a dance in them. It made for very easy relaxing with family, we could be together, eat together, and retire quietly. Walkable distance to the centre of town, or anywhere on Island if you’re active, and genial, generous hosts. Budget friendly -bonus!!

Our first on the island and we found the locals very friendly and accommodating. We stayed at the Norfolk Holiday Apartments, which were comfortable and spacious. We had a kitchenette if we wanted to cook, king sized bed (the mattress was firm but comfortable), plenty of room to moved around in the living area and a four person dining table. The views were spectacular. The laundry was good with a non pay washing machine and ironing facilities. The apartments was a short distance from town centre (10-15 minute walk) and a 5 minute drive from Kingstown where the convict ruins are, so nicely positioned. Our only minor problem was the fridge was not working well and we relayed the prob to the owner at the end of our stay.

Unfortunately our room had a lot of mould on the ceiling in the lounge and bathroom, behind the bedroom door looked like it had not been cleaned or wiped down for months, the kitchen was not clean I had to give everything I used a good clean in hot and soapy water prior to using it and a terrible smell lingered particularly when opening the pot cupboard. The wardrobe also had a horrible smell, certainly did not want to use the blanket that was in there. Sue came across as a bit abrupt but again on other occasions she seemed nice and interested in your day. Positives: What a great view!

Sorry but I dispute most of this. Kitchens are thoroughly cleaned after each guest. Back of bedroom door is a huge mirror not much timber there? smell is sometimes left with typical tropical humid weather which we had that week! I think I know this person and I did offer to change apartments for them and it was declined. "Look at all the good comments and you might see this was just a clash of personalities!"

Sue and Ray,the owners of Norfolk Apartments, made us feel so welcome. The apartment itself was very spacious and had everything you need. The gardens were beautiful and being away from the road it was very tranquil. A car was waiting for us and it was only a very short drive to the village for all supplies.

Down a laneway off Taylor's Road, within walking distance of Burnt Pine township and with wonderful views of Phillip Island to the south, we found our holiday accommodation which was nestled amongst colourful, subtropical gardens. Our ground-floor apartment was quite spacious with just about everything we needed for a comfortable week's holiday. The kitchen, loungeroom and dining area were tastefully and comfortably furnished and essentials such as a microwave, oven, fridge,TV, radio and hair-dryer were all provided. Crockery.cutlery, pots and pans were in abundance in the kitchen and towels, washers and soap were provided for the bathroom. I was always able to enjoy a hot shower but bathroom visits were often spoilt by a very noisy fan which always came on with the light. One still needed to shop for provisions, of course, but because of our research we knew we could take things like rolled oats, sugar, coffee, tea, cheese, biscuits and wine with us.This helped allay costs as most food-stuffs are a little more pricey in the N.I. supermarkets than they are back home. As we were close to restaurants and clubs, however, there wasn't any problem with trying out a variety of cuisines not far from home and we found most places quite reasonable in price. Several vouchers came with our holiday package e.g. Friday night pizza at Castaways, but, as we didn't realise we needed to book, we missed out on this. As some places are very popular, always book to ensure a meal. From Norfolk Holiday Apartments one can follow the map to any place on the island that one wants to go - scenic spots for great sunsets and photographs of pines, beaches, oceans and historic buildings, a winery where one can enjoy both tasting and buying a wine of one's choice, a pottery which has some amazing work, and much more. I would certainly recommend the apartments as our holiday here was relaxing, no-fuss, comfortable and quiet while Sue and Ray were the perfect hosts.
