Detailed Reviews

The Garden Cottage internally, is a new build with external bricks from the original convict foundry on this site. Charming cottage with lounge, dining, bedroom and bath, it has no laundry (only in Chalet) and no kitchen sink (host offers to wash up daily). The kitchen is basic toaster and microwave, fridge, plunger coffee. Cottage opens out onto a mulberry courtyard and actually connects to the main house.
Very comfortable stay, eclectically furnished with period furniture and contemporary highlights, it is spacious for 2 and an easy walk into the main drag of Richmond. Off street car-parking is provided.
Breakfast is hand-prepared and delivered in a basket (to be COVID-safe): basically continental, but with the option of pancakes. Very friendly hosts; we had an enjoyable stay.

My goodness this is a very discriptive review of your stay, thank you for your kind words and so pleased that you enjoyed the history of the property and that you were comfortable, it was so lovely to welcome very friendly guests to Mulberry Cottages, thank you for taking the time to review your stay, it has certainly been a challenge with all the renovations to the property and i am looking forward to taking the Garden Cottage to the next phase, however i must say that the Garden Cottage is connected under the same roof but also far away from the main house and when a guest makes a reservation the confirmation details describe the facilities of all cottages and what they have to offer eg: laundry only in the Chalet and also a continental breakfast included, best wishes to you both and thank you.

We stayed only one night before our flight home but wish we had stayed longer. We had the Garden Cottage which was so beautifully appointed and comfortable. Our host, Maureen, was a delight and so welcoming. Her breakfasts are delicious and very generous, in fact we were unable to eat it all. The cottage is only about a 5 minute walk to the town centre where we had dinner at the local hotel. It is also a short drive to Hobart Airport which is another reason it makes a great stop. I would most certainly recommend Mulberry Cottage to anyone travelling around Tasmania.

As per other reviews, This is possibly the nicest accommodation we stayed at during our 9 days in Tassie. Maureen, the upbeat and friendly owner, has thought of everything to make her guests' stay perfect. She is obviously a very stylish lady with excellent taste and has decorated her B&B with a lovely slightly French influence - very elegant.
There was nothing we could think of that wasn't included in our room, and plenty over and above our expectations.
Breakfast, which Maureen brought to our room in a cute wicker basket, filled to the brim with a wonderful continental selection, was delicious, especially her home made signature pancakes.
Really loved our stay here. Well done Maureen. You should be really proud of what you have created there at Mulberry Cottage. You definitely deserve 5 stars.

This was a cosy, clean and well appointed Bed and Breakfast in Richmond. Maureen was a very friendly and accommodating host, even catering for a gluten free breakfast with no warning. We liked that each cottage was stand alone and offered privacy. It was ideally located, less than 5 minutes’ walk from the pub.

A little gem of a cottage in a rural setting but close to the town centre of Richmond. The cottage is beautifully furnished and kept very clean and comfortable. The owner is so helpful, nothing is too much trouble. A fantastic breakfast is brought to the cottage, so much food we couldn't eat it all. Highly recommend this cottage for an overnight or long weekend stay.

A magical find in lovely Richmond Tasmania. A lovely town outside Hobart full of history. The Garden Cottage we are staying in for two nights is very comfortable and beautifully decorated with everything you could wish for included in the cottage. To put the icing on the cake you will receive a beautifully presented breakfast basket each morning by our lovely host Maureen who is eager to please. Would highly recommend.

We stayed in the garden cottage which is beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. Our host Maureen was very friendly and justifiably proud of her business. The breakfast room was served in a heritage listed cottage on the property which has been tastefully restored.A very generous breakfast consisted of cereal, fruit salad, toast and finished up with Maureen's delectable blueberry pancakes. If you are staying around Richmond give yourself a treat and stay here.

We had 2 couples stay in the Garden Cottage in October. It was the last day of a 2 week trip around Tasmania and this b and b was a perfect way to finish on a high note of what was an amazing trip in the beautiful state of Tasmania. Maureen was a terrifically organised and friendly host and the cottage is immaculate, beautifully decorated and very clean and fresh. Lots of goodies lying around on arrival and a massive and comfortable 4 poster bed in the main room. The outlook with the huge old mulberry tree as a centrepiece of the gardens was just beautiful.
Maureen kindly booked us into the hotel in Richmond which seems to be the only place open once the day tourists have left and which was consequently very busy. She also made breakfast for us at an earlier time slot than usual as we were catching a reasonably early flight that morning. And she even cooked the famous blueberry pancakes for us!! The b and b is so handy for the Hobart Airport which makes it an excellent place to stay. We loved everything about it and highly recommend it.

I remember you all so well!! The reason for this is that you were all so lovely! Always remember awesome Guests as yourselves! I enjoyed welcoming you to Mulberry Cottage and so loved chatting with you all and so happy that you chose to stay here and i'm delighted to know our accommodation was the perfect way to finish your tour of the beautiful state of Tasmania, how lucky was i, really appreciate your fabulous comments and score for your stay here and that you were comfortable in the Garden Cottage and you were very special Guests because you were the last one's to stay that accommodated up to 4 Guests, this Cottage now consists of 1 bedroom and the massive king 4 poster bed has gone as it was never suited to a bedroom of that size, the Garden Cottage still has a king size bed and larger living area's for Guests after its very recent refurbishment, Guest's comfort is very high on our agenda, and yes you are right the very old Mulberry Tree gets bigger every year and is just beautiful! I was very happy to provide you with an early breakfast and so pleased that you enjoyed it as it was my pleasure to cater for Guests with appreciation, so worth while! thank you again and for your recommendations for our property that we have worked so hard for the much needed improvements, love saying that you all will always be welcomed back, with kindest regards Maureen

We stayed in the Garden Cottage for two nights. It was very clean & spacious, as well as elegantly & thoughtfully appointed. Maureen was welcoming and helpful. The gardens are beautiful and quiet. As others have said, the breakfast was excellent.
A great place for a weekend getaway. But for travellers, some things to note: this cottage had no available laundry facilities, so the closest laundrette is a 15 minute drive to Sorrell. Also this cottage had no cooking facilities (there is a large bar fridge & easy access to a very nice BBQ area), and dinner options in Richmond are limited to the pub (which was OK) and one cafe on Fri & Sat nights (which was excellent). I can't comment on the other cottages, but the other guests we met at breakfast seemed quite happy with their experiences.
Richmond is very quiet, & convenient for accessing Port Arthur as well as many vineyards & culinary sites.

Thank you so much Brian for your lovely review of your experience in the Garden Cottage and that you found the Cottage to be well appointed and elegant! Thank you! We love our position in Richmond as we are in such a short stroll to the Township but located off the main street for privacy and quietness, Appreciate your all your comments on our gardens and that you enjoyed your breakfasts, We accommodate a lot of weekend getaway guests and also for many guests that choose long stays and also bike riders for this time of year that enjoy the ambience of Mulberry Cottages for our location and for what we offer including many garden areas to relax in and the barbeque area if you would like to cook a feast that so many do that would choose to stay home and relax. I am sorry Brian that you did not read the information on the booking site about the Cottages and the individuality of them and they are all different and i do respond with confirmation emails detailing what all Cottages offer, most Guests that require cooking facilities and a washing machine with clothes line book the Valley View Cottage for their stay and is well documented on all the Web Sites, thank you for choosing Mulberry Cottages for your stay, Kind Regards Maureen
