My Wife and I stayed here with our Grandson in an RV during a trip around Tasmania.
The park is just out of town but is set off the main road meaning it was very quiet. The grounds are well maintained and the amenities block well cared for. Our powered site was over by the perimeter fence in a large grassy area and had plenty of room for our awning and table/chairs. Our Grandson was very disappointed that the pool is closed for renovations as this was the only park with a pool that we had planned. There is a large games room next to the pool which is poorly equipped and looked a little run down with a ripped pool table and cues that had no tips to them.
With a little TLC this could be a lovely park but don’t be fooled by the website photos

We had a night here whilst exploring Richmond. Manager was pleasant when we called ahead to book and on check in. We were in a motor home and the rate for a powered site for 2 people $40. The amenities were clean and whilst there was plenty of people in the park it was nice and quiet. The outlook out over the field was nice.

An excellent base for Richmond and the Coal Valley wine area, it is located walking distance west of the village of Richmond.

The caravan park itself is very pleasant with good-sized sites and friendly, welcoming staff. Excellent amenities with 6 minute timed showers. Good mobile coverage and wifi available.

About 30 minutes drive into Hobart.

I booked 2 nights for 2 powered sites together at this caravan park for 2 campervans. My husband & I plus another couple - friends travelling with us. My original booking was made over 2 months ago. Then I rang the owner 24hours in advance of our arrival to ensure we definitely had 2 sites together for the 2 nights. I was told yes- no problem. Today when we arrived just before 2pm was told by caretaker couple ( not the owners) there was no room left. After much debate we had to go to Hobart airport caravan park as we had no choice. The opposite direction to our planned itinery. Can't believe the lack of responsibility- they just didn't care.

My friends and I arrived with no booking.
4 of us each had a small campervan and the owner was friendly and easily able to accommodate us for 4 unpowered sites and charged us each $20/ night, we stayed right between the shower block and reading/ tv room.
We were able to make a fire in the fireplace in the tv room and relax there and have free 6 minute long timed hot showers.
2 minute drive to Richmond arms pub and 20 minutes to the airport.
Highly recommended.

We stayed in a cabin for one night. Our cabin was very comfortable and well equipped. Overall the park looked neat and well maintained. I used the laundry. The machines were in good condition. The park is in a very convenient location to explore Richmond.

I wouldn’t recommend this campsite based on my experience. To provide some context, I’m generally an easygoing traveler and had the pleasure of meeting many kind and welcoming people during my time in Tasmania, including campsite managers and B&B hosts. However, my experience at this family-run campsite in Richmond was less than ideal. I found the atmosphere unwelcoming, particularly in interactions with the male host, who seemed difficult to approach or communicate with. For those seeking a smooth and enjoyable journey, it might be worth considering other options to avoid any potential discomfort.

Excellent quiet lovely park if on the other side to the packed caravan side where they are all packed in like sardines.
Quiet, tidy, and friendly. Staff are lovely. Large caravan spaces and camp kitchens and facilities on this side as well.
Must make sure you book. Walking into town from the park if careful but disabilitity (wheelchair access) not safe . Side of the road is not wide and safe enough for about 100 metres from the park. From this section there is a very safefootpath into town.

The park photo gales does not represent what the park looks like
Sahara desert is greener with more grass
One big dust bowl.
Attitude of staff is not pleasant and very abrupt.
Rate of $50 per day is way over priced.
Will never stay here again and hope other people stay wide of this caravan park

Large caravan and cabin site on the outskirts of Richmond.
Dirt only no cement pads.
Not pleasant in the wet weather due to muddy conditions.
Amenities were clean, coin operated showers hot.
There is a large building with indoor swimming pool, lounge and television.
Small separate camp kitchen set away from this building
Not the most attractive park.
Heritage town of Richmond is within walking distance and a great spot for lunch at the old inn/pub

Hi Alison, We are fairly new to the Caravan park business and we are working really had to up grade out facilities. Many of the reviews were posted about the previous management, but also we are learning as we go. We are in the process re fitting out cabins and our ground are neat and tidy for powered and unpowered accommodation. Tassie is a great place to stay and our location within walking distance to Historic Richmond Village is ideal. We do really wish that people would come and make up their own mind on the improvements to the Richmond Caravan & Cabin Park as we have had many positive review from our guest that do not post on social media. Thank you for taking the time to write to us and would love to see you if you choose to come to Richmond.
