Discover Aquila, a Tasmanian rural escape that cares as much about its unique natural environment as it does about grown-up luxury. Aquila promises an off-grid glamping experience that doesn’t skimp on the necessities: lush linens, wood heaters, raw timber furnishings and kitchen mod-cons, in the total seclusion of a deluxe Eco Pod or Glamping Tent. Set amongst Coal River Valley wine country, you’re invited to indulge body, mind and soul. Bathe in expansive views over local vineyards and across rolling hills to Hobart’s kunanyi/Mt Wellington, and explore the working farm and bushland setting. Created with sustainability and calm comfort in mind, Aquila is your permission slip to relax, rejuvenate and reconnect.

Detailed Reviews
Can we stay forever?
The Banksia is perfect, with everything we needed for a delightful restorative stay. It was so relaxing to stoke the fire and look out at the glorious view.
We especially enjoyed the four fancy “turkeys” that came knocking each morning. Quite adorable.
The location is perfect, just outside the cute town of Richmond (where many devonshire teas can be found!) and still close to Hobart if you need to pop into town.
Thanks for sharing your slice of heaven with the world.

Thanks for your review, Jane. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay, and we loooved your description of the Aquila guinea fowl. Eco-pod Banksia is indeed their favourite hang-out spot! We hope to see you again one day.

A night of absolute tranquility! Celebrating our anniversary of 6 years 🥰 We only live 30 minutes from Aquila but it felt like we were a world away! Alice and Jason have built a true piece of paradise for everyone to enjoy, especially the locals like us! The sounds of nature, beautiful birds, the sheep and their offspring having conversations into the night, no meditation needed to fall asleep with this wonderful place! One touch my partner enjoyed was the binoculars to look further out into the distance and get a closer view of the gorgeous flocks of birds soaring through the rolling hillsides! The outdoor bath was a hit, didn’t want to get out! Our grazing box was so delicious and catered for Gluten free, the prefect balance of savoury and sweet ❤️
Also I love a comfy bed, the sheets were fantastic and mattress exquisite, didn’t want to get out! We stayed in the Tent and it stayed warm enough for us all night with plenty of wood to get us through to the end of our 1 night stay, with more wood available at request. The electric blankets were a nice warm touch as well 💕
Thank you for having us, we didn’t want to leave!

We stay there only one night but what a night !
You feel relaxed as soon as the gates of the property opens. The view from the tent was absolutely amazing and we could take a warm bath outside with some sheeps as neighbors. In the evening when it get cold you even have the cutest fire place to warm the place and create a lovely and cozy ambient. Really really loved our stay .
Thank you Alice for your kindness and the amazing stay !

Our three night stay at Aquila was exactly the tonic we needed to unwind and recharge our batteries. It is perfectly located to take advantage of the views of the valley, and the verandah bathtub was heaven after days exploring the wineries and surrounding areas. The hot/cold therapy is a must - incredibly refreshing and invigorating. Alice and Jason have thought of everything to make guests comfortable. The beds are amazing! We had some very cold and wet weather one day of our stay, and Alice happily delivered extra firewood and umbrellas to us. The glamping tent stayed warm and cosy despite the wild weather outside! We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Aquila and will definitely come and stay again next time we are in Tasmania.

Everything we’d hoped for. So much care and effort had clearly gone into setting this site up - just perfect in each and every way. So idyllic and restful, we left the better for our stay. A serene backdrop a crackling wood fire and a glass of local Pinot, sounds like a dream right!

What a beautiful place to stay just outside of the historic town of Richmond and less than half an hour from home made it so easy to travel to. Peace and quiet and a few days of relaxing were just perfect. Take the hot and cold therapeutic session, it’s exhilarating!

What a perfect weekend getaway! We especially loved the outdoor bath and sauna with amazing views. The tiny home was perfectly set up with a log fire, fully stocked kitchen and the comfiest bed. Would definitely come back to Aquila Eco Retreat.

Been in Tasmania for about 8 months and this is hands down the best place I’ve stayed at. Perfect present for my partner a bath on the deck with some wine over looking the hills and also such a peaceful sauna. I couldn’t recommend it anymore I even told my dad to stay here when he visited from WA. The owners also could not be any more welcoming and helpful!! Treat your self

The peace and tranquility was what I was hoping for and Aquila delivered in a lovely way. The outside bath was outstanding and original way to bring the inside outside. Overlooking the town of Richmond and watching its lights in the distance was hypnotic.
