My wife and I stayed 2 nights at the cottage and my review is a mixed one. For history, memories, ambiance and quietness I would give 5 stars. For reasons of cleanliness I would give 3 stars. This is because when we checked in there were cobwebs in a couple of rooms and the place was quite musty, with dust gathering here and there. Almost like it hadn't been aired for a while. Having said that everything you want is there, with some trimmings such as bread, milk, eggs, Port and some chocolates. Fire wood was provided and the fire place set up as well ready to light. All kitchen needs were there including some alfoil and gladwrap. Once moved in, there is nothing you will need. It even has a washing machine. Sitting by the fire pouring a port and then reading the history of the cottage was brilliant. We really enjoyed out stay and I have no hesitation in recommending the cottage to others. Its a great getaway place.…
Laurel Cottage is conveniently located close to the famous Richmond Bridge within walking distance of the town. Lovely, comfortable, spacious, well-equipped little cottage. Kitchen has everything you would need. Cosy family room with fireplace, complete with a selection of DVDs. Comfortable beds with electric blankets. Plenty of space for a family. Perfect home away from home.
Authentically old. Comfortable, nicely decorated. Fresh flowers and breakfast provided. Friendly helpful manager. Lovely gardens. Just near Richmond bridge and an easy walk to other town attractions. Wood fire heater, you might need it even in December.
Wonderful place to stay, close to most attractions including Port Arthur, lovely wood fire, very comfortable beds and so clean, breakfast was supplied with a great choice of food, even orange juice.the cottage has a lot of history and has been lovingly restored, a book in the lounge details the restoration.
Enjoyed our stay in the historic cottage, books there showed the restoration of the building, which is a major undertaking , the wood fire and the well equipped kitchen allow one to get own meals, breakfast is supplied and the cupboards well stocked including a welcoming port and chocolates
