Amazing dining experience

We dined in the restaurant and had the most wonderful meal, a five course degustation consisting of a Bass Strait scallop starter, sugar cured beef fillet, Tasmanian seafood dumpling, free range pork loin and a Huon Valley apple desert. The food was skilfully balanced flavours and textures and a true visual treat which we both thoroughly enjoyed. The sparkling wine was stunning and the service excellent. We will definitely return!

Worlds best Customer Service

My wife and I recently spent a couple of nights at the Prospect House Private Hotel to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary. How awesome was it!!! From the time the front gates were opened up for us to drive in until they were closed behind us at departure, we were made feel so very special by the staff. Sonia was on the driveway to welcome us and direct us to our parking, show us around our room and the property, before we settled in. Sonia was also there to provide us with afternoon tea, evening drinks and breakfast on the first morning and answer any questions we had. Patrick followed on the following day with the same amazing service, friendliness and professionalism seldom found in Tasmania’s hospitality industry. Both of these staff provided worlds best customer service. The rooms were exceptionally well presented and the bed very comfortable. Lovely bathroom complimented the room and it was clear that the renovation of this property was not done on the cheap. The outside garden sitting area was so relaxing and a great place to meet and share a drink with other guests. The rooms inside the old house were set up for meals but also there were a couple of beautifully furnished rooms to sit in a quiet space to read or have a drink. We did this both nights. Breakfast was whatever you wanted from continental to fully cooked meal. Butter, condiments and bakery items were all made in the kitchen and were delicious. Ask for the granola receipt.. it was fab. We also enjoyed one dinner over the weekend and it too was first class in all respects, looked after by Glen. Only 15 minutes from Hobart and walking distance to the historic town of Richmond, there is no doubt that this hotel will provide some wonderful experiences for guests going forward. The owners , John and Libby Pooley have done an awesome job renovating this property and are also the owners of one of my favourite wineries in Australia, Pooleys. It is a short walk across the road to their cellar door so make sure you get the time to try their award winning Rieslings or Pinot Noirs.it is worth being a member of their wine club. If I could make one constructive suggestion it would be that the wines provided for purchase in the rooms be sold at cellar door prices. It would certainly encourage guests to take the top off whilst staying. Brilliant staff in a truly beautiful property. Do yourself a favour and check it out. Five star accommodation, food and service

The suite and private lounge in the main residence was outstanding. Food, both at breakfast and dinner , was beautifully presented and delicious. The staff were professional, friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We felt part of the family. The gardens were magnificent. Manicured, most colourful and presentation outstanding. A more relaxing, friendly and gracious package would be very hard to find. A first class experience.

Beautiful stately heritage home

We stayed here recently as a stop on the way to Hobart and we’re so pleased we did. Our room above the courtyard was beautifully presented and spotlessly clean. We were met by Patrick who gave us a short tour of the house and garden while we sipped a champagne. We were offered afternoon tea twice in the afternoon but unfortunately no one ever brought it. So disappointed as we were really looking forward to it. We had to go on a night tour to Port Arthur so sadly missed dinner there but we were made to feel welcome to use the lounge area after we got back later that night. Breakfast was excellent! Loved the fresh orange juice. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone. We loved our short stay here. Thanks to all the staff who looked after us.

Beautiful hotel in a converted estate home with all the trimmings included

Stunning estate home/hotel opposite Pooley winery. The rooms were huge and were beautifully decorated with everything you need for a romantic stay. I especially loved the heated tiles in the bathroom. We were warmly welcomed with afternoon tea. The welcome drink was a lovely prelude to a delicious degustation meal with q phenomenal wine list of Tasmanian wines. The breakfast was equally impressive with a huge selection to chose from. I can't praise the experience of staying at Prospect House enough. A truly unforgettable experience. Thanks
