I would have given this establishment 5 stars, but the way we were spoken to after an accident, that we had no opposition to paying for, left a sour taste in our mouths. Yes it was a great disappointment to the proprietor, but we didn't appreciate the tone. On reflection of our conversation, she may have thought we hadn't responded to a message that we definitely didn't receive, but still...... On the positive side, the cottage was clean and comfortable. (The Retreat) The price was reasonable. The situation good. We would happily have returned, but I don't think we will now. We might not be welcome anyway.
Stayed here for two nights in the Retreat. Very comfortable. Large well equipped bathroom with shampoo, soap and conditioner. Bedroom was large with great mattress and plenty of blankets and doona. The kitchen had everything you need with a couple of couches and table and chairs. Good TV, games, books and DVD player with movies. Great stay. Warning that nothing is open Sunday night and the IGA closes at 5pm. Thanks Simone
Simone was a helpful and kind host. The cottage was immaculately cleaned with everything we needed. Lovely extra touches such as duck food for the kids. Excellent location, easy flat walk to main street. My family of 4 had a wonderful 2 night stay and would highly recommend the Barracks at Richmond.
The retreat, self contained one bedroom, comfort and delight. Simone has added a "hey Google' machine which was very helpful for weather info and great sound for all the favourite songs. An easy stroll to the town, restaurants and shops. Always a most welcome stay! Clean as a pin! Everything you ever need is there. Lots of games, books, dvd , maps and info.
We turned up without a booking and was immediately welcomed by the owner, Simone and shown Lady Esther Cottage, a beautifully restored self-contained cottage. The Barracks is a small affair with just the three accommodations, so it is quite peaceful. The two-bed-roomed cottage had a little garden and was situated on a quiet road within walking distance of the village centre. The kitchen was well equipped and suited our overnight stay. There were even instructions on what to put aside for their worm farm for later collection.
Excellent place to stay with family .. awesome and very kind and warm hostess. the cottage rooms are delightful , very homely , comfortable and catered to all our needs.. All in all a 7 star treatment and especially the kids enjoyed the games, Google mini and the Duck feed. We all loved the Retreat cottage and Richmond town.. Would certainly be coming back next time..Has to be the way to celebrate family milestones.. Thanks very much Simone for making the first leg of our 10th Wedding anniversary trip memorable ..
We had an overnight stay at this beautiful establishment and couldn’t recommend it highly enough! Simone was friendly and helpful and the cottage we stayed in was perfect. The bed was super comfortable, the kitchen extremely well equipped and the extra touches like shampoo, conditioner and liquid soap in the bathroom were much appreciated. There were current magazines to read, and a lovely view of the garden from the French doors. All I can say is: PERFECT!
I had a fabulous 4 night stay at the beautiful Richmond Barracks. From the moment I arrived I was welcomed . Cottage was very comfortable and homely. Beautiful shower, comfy bed and enough space to stretch out. On site parking was a bonus and being able to walk to all that Richmond has to offer was another highlight. Will definitely stay here again. Couldn’t have been better 👍👌
Richmond Barracks is a very comfortable and convenient accomodation. We were accommodated in The Retreat which includes a large living area with comfortable lounges for kicking back and a small dining area enough for three. The kitchen area is small but more than adequate and well equipped enabling a full meal to be prepared if necessary. The supplied breakfast was simple and fresh but the kitchen allowed for something more substantial if required. The bedroom can accomodate a couple and one other in large comfortable beds and the bathroom was roomy and spotless. There is ample space in the off street car park for the three available Accomodations. Unfortunately, when we came home after a day out on our last night, all parking places were taken. Either someone had two vehicles or someone else had used this quite secluded space. This meant we did have difficulty parking quite away from our accomodation for packing the car the next morning with a bit of backing and filling to leave the car park to travel to the airport. When Simone realised how many cars were in the car park she was quite surprised. It was clear she had no idea until that morning that someone had snuck an extra car in. Unfortunately we did not meet Matthew but Simone is a delightful and very helpful host. …
I needed accommodation for a 5 night stay while I attended meetings in Sorell. I wanted self contained and quiet. Esthers Cottage was the perfect place to hide away and relax between commitments. I had everything I could possibly think of. Simone, the owner, very generously offered more, and did her utmost to ensure my every needs were met. I highly recommend Richmond Barracks. It’s within easy walking distance to the famous Richmond Bridge.
