I was there in the end of April. I stayed in la gringa for two days. The atmosphere is nice and it's relaxing, but it's a bit dirty full of insects and it is a really party place (they play high music all the night till three in the morning, so basically you can't sleep). After two days I moved...

At first the hostel seemed great and quirky, but don't be fooled: the rooms are in poor shape, dirty with broken windows and doors that jar. The toilets are filthy too, I wouldn't feel safe showering there. Also there was just a lot of noise, constant smell of green in the common areas, and a bad nasty slightly racist vibe...

La Gringa at first glance may seem like a great place to stay with a good location as well as being quite cheap. But I've been travelling for 5 months now and it's by far the dirtiest hostel I've stayed in - and I'm not precious. I know for many they won't have a problem with this but I personally...

It always depends on your own expierience if you like a place or not. Before I arrived to the hostel 3 guys highly recommend this place to me. But I didn't feel comfortable at the hostel. It's very dirty. The bathroom looked liked the haven't been cleaned the last months and the facilities were old and broken. The worst thing...

We've been travelling for 8 months now, and the owner of La Gringa and her son are the friendliest, most helpful and kindest hosts we've met. We had a really great time here. Highly recommended! Paddy + Denise

Amazing location at the back of the main pier in Huanchaco. Good common area and nice bar. Really cheap at $7 a night. However, this is without doubt the dirtiest hostel I have stayed in so far in South America. Cleaning was done by volunteers when I stayed there which means it wasnt done too well. Appalling smell from bathroom...

We just left Huanchaco and I already want to go back, mainly because of our stay at La Gringa. I have never felt more welcomed into a hostel, you honestly leave feeling like a part of the family. Huanchaco itself is fairly small, so we only stayed for a couple nights (which I think was plenty of time). The breakfasts...

If you´re looking for a friendly, inexpensive, and well located backpacker hostel on the beach then this is the one for you. When I stayed there I found it most people friendly and out going, and it was easy to meet people, which is a big plus for me as a solo traveller. The dorms are a little lived in,...
