After a month of traditional Peruvian food we were searching for some food with a different flavor and got exactly what we were craving at hostel meri! The chicken coconut curry was so delicious and the fresh salad with homemade dressing was a perfect accompaniment! The outdoor seating also makes for a very relaxing and beautiful meal :) highly recommend!

We didn't stay there, so can't say anything re: accommodation. Yet we ate and boy was it good. This was one of the most homely breakfasts we have had in 6 months of travelling SA, the bacon was particularly delicious but was supplemented well by the eggs and the unlimited coffee. I said UNLIMITED COFFEE. We thought it was much...

Food is amazing and most of the people who stay there (mainly young travelers/surfers) are really nice and relaxed :) Huanchaco is a small town, but it worths it to stay there for a few days if you want to surf or visit places next to Trujillo. The Hostel is just perfect for relaxing and enjoying a few drinks at...

My wife and I have lived here for 3 years. It is not easy finding a tasty breakfast at a decent price in most towns in Peru, but we eat here all the time. This is actually our favorite breakfast spot in Huanchaco. Again, note, we don't have any opinion on the rooms etc. The staff in the "restaurant" are...

We had breakfast here two mornings in a row and the food was great. Big portions and tasty food and great coffee. The only downfall was the Juice and listening to the blonde waitress having a loud argue with other staff members in front of all breakfast customers. Great food and good value but unprofessional service.

Well, if you are surfing, this might be the place for you. Otherwise find another place, much cheaper and friendly. The rooms are ok such as the location, but the bathrooms are quite dirty and messy. Also I found staff not friendly or helpful at all.

Nice vibe n breezy. Lots of wonderful staff...but what a spacy waitress! Broken down furniture in living room needs to be replaced but otherwise great hostal. Clean rooms, locker, hot water. Decent food w horrible service. I ordered food at least 6x. I ate about 3 of those times. They take forever. Worst example is a 45 minute wait only...

We arrived at Meri at half 1, and decided we'd have lunch there. We were told that it would begin being served at 2.30 so we decided to wait around and have some juice. When 2.30 finally came around they asked us for our orders, so we both opted for variations on the falafel salads. So we sat there waiting,...

I spent a month in Huanchaco and for part of that time, I stayed in the Meri Hostel. It is spacious, comfortable, clean and above all, peaceful. The food is excellent in the good, healthy, real food category. The staff and visitors who run the place are invariably friendly and helpful. I continued to call in throughout my stay and...

Pros: Cheap. Really cheap. Cheap as papas, in fact, and an amazing beachfront location with great roof terrace, and good breakfasts available for around 10 sols. Cons: You get what you pay for and this hostel is worn-out and dilapidated, and the beds definitely aren't the best. The worst thing, though, is that not once during my three days there...
