We have just come back from 4 nights stay at Playa Escondida. Our cabana was nestled in the jungle and we travelled to the restaurant and beach via a golf buggie supplied by the hotel. The setting was exquisite, the beach magical, the food amazing...More
We visited Playa Escondida in early May for 1 week and were absolutely blown away - by the beauty of the location, the food in the restaurant, the service of the staff, the drinks, the grounds, the wilderness, etc., etc. It was everything we hoped...More

Yoga starts at 9am, but it kinda runs on Mexican time... There is no charge, but you might want to bring some pesos to tip afterwards or after your stay. We were at PE a few weeks ago in mid-July, but we visited the area (didn't stay at PE) last year in mid-August and you can expect it to be very humid
with sun mixed with clouds during the day and thunderstorms/rain at night. The lightning over the ocean at night is amazing. However, don't be too concerned about the evening rain as you'll be dry if you are in the upper bar (above the beach bar). We ended up eating dinner there 4 of the 5 nights we were there with great service from Juan, Armando, and Jose. Do bring a small flashlight for the evening as the lighting in some spots is not the greatest, especially if you're going back to your room in the rain. You're going to have the best time there. We can't wait to go back.

We have the hotel arrange transport from the airport ($130 US round trip). The Bird Canyon rooms include a golf cart. When we stay in a beach room we walk into town in the morning and cab back. There are some excellent hiking and snorkeling trip providers (Mexitreks) that can get you out in the area. Monkey Mountain is a fun hike. Playa E is as close the heaven you will get on earth...!
