this is a bit of a double dip as my partner has already reviewed this, but I feel I also want to share my experience. This little gem of a B&B is a carefully rebuilt old farm dwelling. and when I say old I mean, really old. Part of the site dates back to the times of Roman occupation of...

We were lucky enough to spend two nights in this charming family owned estate. Hospitable, friendly, cozy room (we were in nr. 1) even though we had an extra bed for our son, big bathroom and private balcony. We were enchanted by the house, the tasteful furnitures and decorations and the lush gardens. Do not miss to meet the owners...

Thanks for making our three days stop here a real pleasure. We enjoyed the nice surrounding, the fresh apartment, and not least - looking at the stars from the roof top in the evening. Kids (and parents) had fun in the swimming pool - really perfect to cool down on a warm summer day, and sit on the shadow afterwards....

Who stayed: 2 friends using 2 bedrooms for 1 night (shortened from 2 nights) for about $110 / night. Accommodation: Casa da Horta ('House of the Vegetable Garden'). We reserved Casa da Nogueira ('The Walnut Tree House') but after checking out the space we agreed that the sofa bed wouldn't be comfortable - it was worn, and low to the...

Perfect for families, not just because of nearby Monsaraz and the lakes but because of the house itself, its gardens and pools. The breakfast is a treat, staff is marvellous - what more do you want. We were two, semi-retired couples traveling Portugal for two weeks. We wanted a variety of experiences and found a great, rustic retreat in Monte Saraz! Swimming pool, high terrace for star watching, scrumptious breakfast, and comfortable bed. What else does one need? Oh yes, we ate dinner at the local, non-tourist restaurant and were serenaded by some local young men....
