We stayed for 4 nights in the Walnut House at Monte Sarah with our 2 your girls (aged 5 & 2.) Marc made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and gave us a tour of the buildings, pools and explained the history of the place. The house itself is beautiful and the Walnut apartment was perfect for our requirements with a well equipped kitchenette, large main bedroom, clean and practical shower room, and comfort living / dining area with sofa bed - also with a private garden and dining area outside. The smaller pool was perfect for our daughters who could stand up in the water and play with the little waterfall which cascades in, with a view of Monsaraz in the background. The larger pool was beautiful and shaded. Breakfast was served between the pools in a covered area, staff were friendly and helpful, and food / service were perfect. Marc was very helpful in answering any questions we had about the local area, and we made visits to Evora, local prehistoric stone monuments, swimming lake, wineries and to Monsaraz - which is a must see, an absolutely beautiful little walled hill town. Finally, we loved meeting Salt & Pepper, the resident cats, who were very welcoming and keen to be stroked! We would love to visit again - honestly one of the most perfect holiday accommodations I have ever had the pleasure to stay at. Thank you!…
We’ve been five nights in Casa da Horta with our two kids (2 years old; 5 months old) and we all had a great time here. The place is beatiful - the whole landscape, the view to Monsaraz, the courtyards, the swimming pools - and people are very nice and friendly. Breakfast is delicious, with great local products, served in a beautiful scenario. Mark is a great hoster and all his staff is very kind. It is so quiet, relaxing and inspiring, that we wish we could stay there for weeks. We will be back as soon as we can!
the montesaraz is a beautiful place, the room is comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated. Many flowers and trees that provide a pleasant stay in the hot summer, also the pools, the fountain and the lake add beauty to the place. The ladies who serve us breakfast are very helpfull. I suggest a breakfast be more complete: the juice should be natural, all the breakfasts should include fruit, i ordered fruit at the first breakfast and on the second breakfast they could be careful and buy, may also include eggs and a croissant or homemade cake
My husband and I visited Monte Saraz on our last stop in Portugal, and we were so glad we had. It turned out to be our favorite place of our entire trip. The property is absolutely beautiful, surrounded by an incredible olive grove that may have been planted by the Romans. Many of the olive trees appeared to be ~1000+ years old! I believe Monte Saraz was once an old olive mill, and the olive press used it still on the property. It’s really neat to see. Marc was so kind to give us a tour and explain some of the history about the property- greatly appreciated! Breakfast was lovely as swell! Highly recommend!
My boyfriend and I just came back from a trip in Portugal. We staid two nights at Monte Saraz and were pleasantly surprised by the unique place. Indeed, the owner, Marc, gave us a tour of the property and told us about the incredible history of the place. He and his wife, Hanna, have done a wonderful work at preserving and enriching the beauty of this place. In addition, they are also wonderful and very helpful hosts!
