We fell in love right away. The drive up gave us a veiw of the mansion. We walked around to the front door and were met by the couple who own and operate this place. They were more than gracious and Julie showed us around. The house is amazing. We saw the chair Mark Twain sat in and the amazing...

We're not bed-and-breakfast people but when we saw the facilities at the Garth Woodside Mansion in Hannibal, we changed our minds. Besides, there are several attractions in Mark Twain's historic hometown that we wanted to see so we added an extra day to our travel time. The Woodside Mansion is an 1871 Second Empire Italianate mansion built by Colonel John...

Cozy, welcoming home that pairs modern conveniences with Victorian elegance. The owner treat me like family! There are 8 rooms to choose from in the mansion and three cottages. Some rooms feature whirlpools and all three cottages have hot tubs and fireplaces. The Dowager is by far the most beautiful room I've ever stayed in. Summer time is hot but...

The room was clean and cute. The bed was comfortable. I did not care for the breakfast, they didn't ask our likes and dislikes and not much variety in the food. The couple who ran the B&B was nice. Overall it was a nice place to stay, but nothing extraordinary. It was my first time staying at a B&B so...

We had an amazing time , with great food and awesome guests. The house is a step back into history with beautiful decor and outdoor areas. The hosts were also very helpful and friendly. I would recommend you try it any time. We were unable to find a room for the night as we did a last minute get away...

We have stayed in B&Bs and country inns for 40 years, in the US, England and Scotland. Having travelled to Hannibal, MO, several times over the years, we decided to spend an anniversary weekend at the Garth Woodside Mansion. The home is a beautiful, imposing structure as you come up the driveway, but with its share of deferred landscape maintenance...

Thanks for your candid response. I just wish you would have said something to us during bfast, or when we offered our wine to guests in the evening. When we rang your card and you gave such a graciously generous tip to the housekeepers we could have only assumed everything was okay in your room. We do not advertised we...

First visit to a bnb and it will be hard to top! Bucolic setting, delightful hosts, comfy bed and accommodations. Breakfast was excellent, and the decor and historic context are hard to match. Stayed in the room which Samuel Clemens used on his visits here. What a rare treat.

From the welcome I received when I checked in, to the delicious breakfasts, to the lovely cottage (with fantastic hot tub), this was one of the best weekend getaways I've had in a long time. I can't wait for a return visit.

I wholeheartedly echo all of the comments made by other reviewers. I was most intrigued by all of the little details that enhanced our experience. For example - little silver figurines to rest your butter knife on at breakfast; warming tray to heat your clay GWM coffee cup before adding a multitude of hot drinks;the tray of mouth watering toffee...

This is our second time at Garth, and not being a fan of B & B's this is a good change as the atmosphere is very relaxed and not so hoity toity that a person such as myself who enjoys the great outdoors can still feel comfortable while allowing my wife to feel pampered. Julie and John were great to...
