Booked it for the price. And, it being a Choice Hotel, expected it to be in a lot better condition than what it is. Granted, it is an extended stay hotel, so I was expecting a little more wear and tear since they have a kitchen. They no longer provide dishes or utensils so bring your own. They apparently are short on towels too. Super thin toilet paper, kind of like just using your hand. Carpeting is well worn, holes on it. It was supposed to be a non smoking room, but you have to walk through a hallway of smoke to get to it. Burn holes in the sheets. It's been put on my do not repeat list, but you might like it.

Let me start with the good. The front desk staff is very friendly. They were nice on arrival and each time I came and went from the hotel they welcomed me with smiles. This hotel is also located in an extremely convenient location right at the intersection of Highway 70 & 63. There are plenty of places to eat and get services including a grocery store in walking distance. The bed was sufficiently comfortable for sleeping with supportive pillows.
Now the bad. The hotel is not very clean. It is pretty rundown. The staff, though nice, have no uniform and wear t-shirts and jeans that make the first impression one that is decidedly not professional. The manger is nice but his family literally sit on a bench in front of the front desk all day. There is only a small hallway into the hotel where this area exists. You are always feeling the need to excuse yourself as you pass in front of an elderly man who sits there with no shoes literally all day long.
My room was in need of updating. The grout was pretty dirty in my bathroom. There is only one bar of soap for showering and hand washing. It would be very awkward to stay here with multiple people using the same soap. The furniture is very dated as are the cabinets in the kitchen area. My room had a table/desk that was pretty beat up and an office chair that was functional but not very nice. I found myself skeptical of using the TV remote because from the overall look of the room, I couldn't be certain when it was last disinfected.
I noticed the room had a very specific smell. It was disinfectant meets old smoke maybe? I am not sure but it reeked of "seedy hotel" smell. I found myself hoping that I would not take that smell with me as I went out.
In the end, I won't stay here again. It was not a completely unpleasant experience but the oddities were just too much. The cost was $49 a night. I probably should have splurged on a nicer place in the end.

I reserved a room here for 3 weeks and 3 days. When I arrived the smell was the first thing that turned me off, especially the smell in the elevator. When I arrived in the room I discovered that the smell wasn't much better there, and there were black hairs all over the bedding and floor of the bathroom, not exactly the first impression I was hoping for. I knew going into it that it wouldn't be the Ritz, but I did expect it to be clean, but that wasn't the case. There was a chair in the room that was beyond disgusting, we asked it to be replaced, and it was with an equally disgusting chair...we put a towel over it to sit on it. During my stay there were two arrests. One included an entire swat team that searched a room on my floor as well as two cars parked in the parking lot. It was reported that the person arrested was selling meth out of his room. The place is filled with people who are living there, obviously on section 8. They are dirty and don't care about other people. When I arrived there was a dryer that was out of service, and it was never repaired during my stay, probably won't be. The WiFi works, but not well especially in the evening. I would say if you are just spending a night, this will due as long as you stay on the first floor, otherwise look elsewhere, you will certainly find something better, and safer.

Immediately upon entering the building, we noticed an incredibly strong smell of pot. The rooms were not in great condition, many cabinets and drawers falling apart. My room was clean but the second room (for HS students) had numerous roaches in it. The staff didn’t seem concerned about this. Also, their smoke detector was hanging by its wires in the ceiling. Thankful for the value stay and friendly staff but I’ll look elsewhere in the future.

My first warning sign should’ve been that the room looked nothing like the photos the hotel posts online. But after a second day of driving 14 hours, we were fine with a place that was older, had scuffs on the walls and scratchy sheets with holes in them. We were excited to have a kitchenette so we could cook a real meal for breakfast, our first on a cross country move. But after prepping all the ingredients, we discovered the stove top didn’t work at all. Neither burner turned on. Now, we had to plan to go buy breakfast somewhere, which would put us behind schedule on top of wasting the groceries we bought for the meal but had no way to bring with us. What do you do with cracked eggs? Upon checking out, I asked for a partial refund and the manager said, “I can give you $5 but I’m not even supposed to give you that.” I asked to speak with the owner, and he said the owner lives in Chicago. I asked the manager to have him call me, so I wrote down my name, phone and email. He said, “I guess I’ll have to scan this to him but I don’t think he’ll call.” It’s been 12 hours since checkout and no word. I’ve been a fan of Choice Hotels and a member for years. This was my first bad experience with any of their properties.

I am very sorry the experience you encountered at our hotel. We work hard to provide top notch customer service. It appeared the fuse was blown on the stove top on your room, this is something our housekeepers and inspectors check to ensure are properly working, and it appears in your case we fell short. I did however offer you another room, next door, to cook your breakfast in, and you declined. I apology we did not meet your needs. I hope the rest of your move went smoothly and if ever in our area, please stop by and see us again. Kris, GM

Would leave negative stars if I could. Took a half hour to check in while the colorful clientele were entering and leaving mostly without masks. The smell of cigarettes and marijuana should have been our first clue. Opening the door to room 123 revealed a rusting bashed in refrigerator and dishwasher with beat up 1980s cabinets was just the beginning of the disaster. The food in the microwave and stained countertop continud. The rest of the room and bathroom did not improve the impression. The only thing good was receiving a full refund and leaving the worst hotel ever seen.

They canceled my reservation that I’d made 2 months in advance. The website says now rooms are a available, but at a higher rate! I’ve stay there year after year for the state wrestling tournament. I always book early, knowing that hotels fill up fast in the area. I’ll never stay or book anywhere with choicehotels.com or any hotel affiliated with them. I’ll also be reporting their practices to BBB and AG’s office.

The photos I submitted tell most of the story so for details see those. Booked this room 6 months ago and chose it because it was for Homecoming weekend so there were not many rooms to be had. Booked it thru Travelocity and prepaid rate of $74 with tax which in hotel terms isn't much so I wasn't expecting much. Have stayed twice before at the Howard Johnson's next door for less money and have already reviewed that hotel which was acceptable. Check in was 3pm and arrived at 1pm not expecting room to be ready, but was pleasantly surprised our room was available. That's where the last of the pleasant things ended. Had paid for a queen bed with sofa sleeper non smoking. Was told room had bed no sleeper and was offered roll away at not additional charge. Asked what happened to room that was booked and was told none available and that Travelocity must have made an error when transferring over our reservation. Told her we paid for a different room and that we would be happy to be wait until after the official check-in time to get correct room. Was told that negative 3 (whatever that means) of that room type were available. Asked to speak to manager and was told one would not be in until next day. Had no choice to take room it being Homecoming weekend, and there being no chance for another available room in the town.
Room pros: Size, it had small table that had a nice executive desk chair. The room had a flat screen TV. The room had a kitchenette, nice chair next to bed.
Rooms cons: Filth. Once again see pics for details. Fridge was dented like it had been punched a couple times, counter had burn mark, dead bug laying on bathroom towel, red substance on bathroom cabinet door, grout was filthy, mold in shower stall area, one soap to be shared for sink and shower, filthy additional cloth on additional chair by table, rough pilled bed sheets, someone's clothing items left behind in closet, bed was not queen size as booked and room smelled like smoke.
Called Travelocity customer service who tried calling to talk to manager, told one not available. They kindly credited our account $50. Will use them to book again, but it will not be at this hotel.

I don't recall there being any CAT5 connections at this hotel. In fact, during the past several years, I've only seen CAT5 at perhaps two or three hotels, period. It's not a heavily supported thing.
If you really need to bring a desktop, there are wireless interfaces available. I just did a quick search on Amazon for "USB Wireless adapter" and came up with a bunch, some as low as $8.99. I hope this helps.
There are more places to choose from in the Columbia area.
