It's a few months since we went to the Pack Horse. I am delighted to say the food is still excellent. Service was very good too. Plenty of menu choice without going over the top. We chose tempura prawns, duck with blackberry and a salad for starters. Main course for two of us was the rare beef which was superb...

After a days diving in 10 degree water this is exactly what I wanted. We were quite late, so didn't bother with starters. Most of us went for the steak which cooked to perfection in each case. Excellent flavour and good fries/salad too. The vegetarian option was a small portion but as soon as this was mentioned the chef quickly...

Found on yell.com and booked in advance of our weekend break. Charming setting. Delightful decor- all recently done. Service -pleasant but distracted. Food- menu not quite as varied as website sample but adequate choice and selection. Kitchen staff prompt and beautiful presentation. We especially enjoyed tomato bread to start.

We ate here on Saturday 21st May (a family of 5). The food was delicious, can't fault the presentation or the portion sizes. We have dined here on several occasions over the last 7 years and whenever we are in the area we try to visit. Initially we came across the pub whilst staying in the village at Ellingham Hall...

Driving down the A1 we saw the sign for the Pack Horse Inn. Turning off the A1 we found the Pack Horse Inn within a mile of the A1. Lovely homemade English country food cooked to perfection and a few nice ales too. We had lasagna and the fish of the day with crime brûlée and the pistachio cake with...

Visited with my friend from Durham as wanted a special meal out for her and had heard fab reviews for here. Country pub - lovely with nice bar and "doggie" areas separate from restaurant. Food is first class, different, perfectly cooked and presented. Wine nice and not too expensive. Only down side was the attitude of the waitress, she was...

We were staying at a nearby very posh hotel for our wedding anniversary, but chose to eat at the Pack Horse on our special night because this really is a lovely friendly pub, with excellent food and good service. We can highly recommend it. The menu is varied and imaginative, the dishes well presented, and the wine list reasonably priced.

Had three evening meals in a row here, first in a group totalling six and then two evenings in a group totalling 4. Amazed at the quality of the service with a different set of staff each time ( but presumably the chef was the same). Food excellent and one's choice could be flexible e.g. asking for chips instead of...

We had booked in to stay here as part of the recommended accommodation on a wedding invite. I saw the reviews and thought it looked fantastic and for £80 a night, seemed quite expensive but probably worth it. Unfortunately, the rooms were cold, small, expensive and very cramped. Further, the staff were very abrupt, rude and unaccommodating. For example, we...

We were recommended to this lovely, dog friendly pub by friends. Driving up to it it looked really pretty and inviting and indeed it was.We walked into the cosy bar and ordered a bottle of the house pinot grigio . They didn't have this but they did have a more expensive bottle, which we duly ordered, along with a gin and...
