The staff was suddenly overwhelmed with requests for rooms late in the evening but coped with it very professionally.
The room was very clean and well presented.
My gripe is that I was told:
“ You will be charged $200 on your credit card just in case you smoke in the room , use the minibar or cause any damage, and it will be refunded if all is OK, however it will take over 5 days for this refund to happen.”
I’m not even sure this is legal.
I was not given the option to accept this, if I didn’t accept this I was going to have to find elsewhere to stay.
I have stayed in many hotels, and never had this occur.
Usually they have my credit card number and my signed authority to take out any additional charges the next day.
I think this type of action is rude , inconsiderate and so if you don’t want your credit card drawn by 200 bucks for over 5 days don’t stay in this place.
I would recommend staying here but having said that...we won't be back.
I found Michelle both lovely and helpful on the phone prior to our visit and also during our stay. Unfortunately it wasn't Michelle who greeted us at reception but it was Nives.
When we presented before 1pm I didn't even get the chance to explain that I knew we were too early for check in but wanted to check if and where we could park our car. We had arranged to leave it on site while we were away on holiday. Nives didn't even greet us but simply looked at her watch and the clock, then without any hello, how are you, informed us we were too early and that the room would be ready at 2pm. I asked about the car parking and she just flicked her wrist and pointed sideways and said it's there and to drive around the side street to gain access. After this very ordinary introduction to this motel and whilst waiting for 2pm, we walked to the airport to check out the route for our early departure the next day. I was that annoyed I was tempted to cancel and stay at Atura, however didn't want to throw money away. We did however cancel the long term parking at the motel and parked at the airport. Also as we are arriving back late in Adelaide in a fortnight and need overnight accommodation we have booked at Atura.
Consumable you needed scissor to open . The air conditioner and fan was noisy . The airport shuttle only ran outside my arrival
And departure times so I had to book an Uber and a cab . Not a great experience after a long day at work . I was not given any fresh milk . Just told we don’t argue . No more correspondence . Never staying there again
The motel offered a shuttle bus from airport for just $8 and I should have taken that. I did on the return trip.
The motel itself was very basic and for the tariff, below standard. There was a dead fly on the bathroom tiled shelf - not a good look to start my stay. The shower curtain was too short so all the shower water spilled onto the floor by the toilet, the bedroom curtains didn't operate properly.
I needed to find the password for the wifi but when I tried the phone in the room to call reception, the cover of the phone fell off and there was no button marked 'reception'. So I had to call from my mobile to ask the passcode. I was told it was located on a sign which I had to peer at for some time before realising it was printed in small white lettering on a yellow background. Do they not want the wifi used ?
On the plus side, the queen bed was most comfortable, the shower was efficient and the shuttle service to the airport was well priced and convenient. For one night, it was adequate but one night would be enough.
The shuttle service is always available; the staff is very helpful and courteous. The rooms are basic, a little small but equipped with what you need for short stays.
