This is all about staying in a shack... and having a bedroom close by if there is some music in the hall. We stayed one night in the Cadillac Shack. It was roomy with a full kitchen and a cozy bathroom that had a sheet for a door. It was rather cool the night we were their and there was...

The Shack Up Inn is an inspired concept. This compound is a hodgepodge of bins (rooms within cotton gins) and shacks (sharecropper vintage) scattered around a compound laid out in the footprint of an old cotton plantation. But the Shack Up isn't about cheap irony or shabby chic. Instead it celebrates the culture of the blues and the spirit of...

We stayed one night here, having seen it in a travel magazine. It's so bluesy cool, the buildings and decor is amazing. The staff were super friendly and really well organised. Having read the website I was expecting it to be really rustic but the Cotton Shack had an ensuite with a gorgeous deep claw foot bath with shower, and...

Stayed in the Office Shack first night in Clarksdale. The shack provided everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. A few things not mentioned in previous posts about this shack. The bathroom has a shower only. They do provide a hairdryer, soap, shampoo, conditioner. This unit has 2 heaters - one in the main living area and a rolling...

Everything was better than I expected. The Rust restaurant on site serves tasty southern food, the blues music both nights was exciting (plus we enjoyed people watching, a window on the world of Clarksdale). We stayed in Electric Blue - plenty of room for two couples. It is totally funky and perhaps doesn't need to be quite so funky. A...

We stayed here for 1 night as were just passing through. Pretty basic but comfortable rooms but you really stay here for the atmosphere. Live music can be found here or in Clarksdale in the evenings. Totally different experience and not one I will forget!

My son and I were up in the Delta in Dec duck hunting and stayed a couple of nights. It is really an eclectic place to be. Our room had no TV not that it really mattered as we were not in that much, but would have been nice to catch some news. Room was big enough, had good heating,...

This was my third time staying at the Shackup Inn and I have never had a problem. Two times by myself and once with the family - they no longer allow kids - must be insurance or something. Staff is always helpful, rooms are clean - a bit quirky - but clean. Like a previous reviewer says - if you...

Some people, when it comes to history, if any parts of that history are unpleasant, want to sweep it under the rug and pretend it never happened. The problem with that is, if one ignores history one cannot hope to learn from it. Was sharecropping a hard life? Were sharecroppers taken advantage of by rich landowners? Were a lot of...

When do you ever get a chance to stay in an old sharecroppers shack, that is comfortable with good Wifi and plenty of room? When in Clarksdale I highly recommend this place as it is only about a 10 minute drive in to town and the staff and atmosphere is amazing. Bar has good craft beer and the restaurant open...
