The bathroom was so quirky with our shower being like a barrel. The wine tasting supper was delicious.Breakfast was equally delicious. We spent three wonderful nights at La Grande Maison enjoying the kind hospitality of Micaela and Sue. The wine matching supper on Monday evening was fabulous and the breakfasts were a treat. I really appreciated the effort Sue went to to accommodate my gluten intolerance, including baking divine fresh bread rolls for breakfast. Our room was comfortable and attractive and...

My husband and I recently stayed at La Grande Maison d'Arthenay. From the moment we were met at Angers by Micaela I felt as if I was with friends. The house and out buildings were charming. Our accommodation in the main house was very spacious and beautifully decorated creating a rustic atmosphere. During dinner, which was well prepared by Sue,...

We had the pleasure of staying at La Grande Maison for two nights and wish we had stayed for longer. The setting is idyllic, Micaela and Sue are wonderful hosts, and the accommodations are perfect. Truly we could not have enjoyed our stay more. Do yourself a favor and visit La Grande Maison!

We had a perfect 3 night stay, what a beautiful home Michaela and Sue have created, we stayed in the Vine Room in the garden, just breathtaking. The weather heated up, so the fan we borrowed from the ladies was much appreciated. We opted for the wine tasting supper, which we enjoyed outside our room in the shade of the...

We have just returned from a road trip across France with our dog. We stayed at La Grande Maison on the first and last two nights, and loved every minute: in fact, we wish we'd booked for longer as it is so incredibly relaxing and restorative. There are two main elements that distinguish this from other places. It is in...

Fantastic 17th century accomadation with a walled garden, caves and an ancient dove tower. Sue and Micaela pay attention to the details that make a break here so perfect. Not far from many chateaus including Montreuil Bellay. Also Meron one of the top bird watching sites in Loire is close by. Bioparc at Douie La Fontaine is one of the...

This is our second stay at La Grande Maison and once again it didn't fail us. We had a beautiful, authentic spacious room in the main building. We opted for the dinner with pairing wines and it was amazing. Fresh and absolutely delicious, all the guests agreed that Sue, the chef, should be on masterchef. The whole experience started with...

Micaela and Sue are lovely hosts, Micaela took us to taste some lovely wines and the highlight for me was a picnic lunch by the river. Staying in the old farmhouse was an unique experience. Nothing was too much trouble. We flew into Tours and Micaela came and picked us up. They even arranged our transfer for our next destination....
