A truly charming bed and breakfast located in beautiful and historic Stillwater, MN. The owners and inn keepers are kind and quick to answer. You feel welcome from the moment you pull up the nice quiet street. They provide everything you need for a relaxing weekend. I personally enjoyed a nice long soak with bubbles and bath salts in the...

I love the privacy and peacefulness of the Englishman's Carriage House. Each room has it's own Jacuzzi and fireplace and the back yard area with the beautiful pool is so quiet. Highly recommend this B&B.

We had a very relaxing night recently at the beautiful James Mulvey Inn, Carriage House B&B. We arrived later in the evening, but they were very accommodating, and we were quite pleased once we opened the door to our lovely suite. Everything was excellent--the refreshments in the room, the fireplace, the whirlpool tub, and the beautiful setting in Stillwater. We...

Stayed one night in this beautiful B&B with lots of privacy. Loved the 2 person jet-powered bath tub. Also enjoyed the gas fireplace with matching chairs. Thanks for a very relaxing and secluded location close to downtown.

The James Mulvey Englishman's Carriage is located a nice 7 block walk from downtown Stillwater. Because it sits on the edge of a wooded ravine, it feels like a English stone residence in a private park. The rooms are lovely, filled with original art and the wine on the balcony was a treat. We are late sleepers so the offsite...

I took my husband to that B&B for his birthday. It was very easy to book online, I got a prompt confirmation email and a phone call a day prior our arrival with some helpful info from Jennifer. The room is very cozy, beautiful fireplace and a cute little balcony. I have stayed at this B&B several times many years...

We enjoyed our stay here even though it is not your typical B&B. We stayed in the Bordeaux room, which is a little small with the angled ceiling. The tub is very big, but the water was not soft, which may not bother some people but I noticed right away. The bed was VERY comfortable. There is no "commons living...

We had a great experience at the James Mulvey Inn. They take great pride in what they do, and it shows in every detail. It is less than a mile from downtown Stillwater, and for the price it was an absolute wonderful experience.

My wife and I stayed in the Art Deco Suite and really enjoyed this amazing home. The beauty and character of the room was exceptional. High quality decorations with tasteful paintings made us feel like we were in an exclusive European bed & breakfast. The balcony overlooking the tranquil yard was wonderful for watching birds. The voucher for breakfast at...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A Boutique Bed and Breakfast. The Estate of James Mulvey has graced historic Stillwater for 133 years. Located on an acre and one half campus on Stillwater’s south hill area, walking distance for downtown, the Italianate mansion and stone Carriage House have welcomed guests to an historic inn experience for over 20 years. Currently, two luxury suites are being made available for guest reservations in the Carriage House – the Bordeaux Suite and the Art Deco Suite. These rooms have been the luxury suites of the Inn since its beginning in 1992. The Carriage House itself is a unique historic structure. Built originally to house the Mulvey’s collection of carriages and fine horses. Today the Carriage House, with pool, resembles an English cottage in the Cottwolds. Guest visits to our Inn provide a uniquely private bed and breakfast experience. Our arrangements and preparations allow your to feel welcome in our Inn, without a social reception. Likewise, you may enjoy breakfast in your room or share it with your loved one, on white linen at the historic Lowell Inn. Stillwater is the Jewel of Minnesota. Its bluffs hug the edge of one of the most beautiful rivers in the Midwest, and visitors find numerous year-round activities in all seasons to keep this a favorite destination. ... more   less
