Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visited and stayed over today and was told $20 minimum on eftpos ??? What’s that all about? Staff smoking and swearing badly and I mean badly with patrons no acknowledgement to others not nice when oldies are in and families. Obviously lacking educated back packing staff who are keen to engage.

The scotch fillet was poor mine was full of fat my husband was just ok but for $84 that’s really bad ..... it’s an icon but I feel ripped off

One of the best 3 days I've ever had at a pub. Great spot for quiet getaway. Friendly helpful staff, amazing meals and really great country pub. Busy every day and night the Friday, Saturday and Sunday i was here. No less than 22 new caravans and campers every day. Live music was an added bonus for Saturday and Sunday

3 adults in Room 1 with 3 single beds, just perfect but room had no window, beds were high off the ground making it awkward to get in to if you are short, the sheets were a jersey type fabric which was great for warmth but impossible to move around as feet felt trapped, the floor is uneven, & the towels didn't dry us properly. Having had my complain, I would stay there again just for the great character of the pub, that is in its original condition since opening in 1864.
BTW, we had dinner there too. Meals are a large size so left feeling full after eating the lasgna which was a bit dry but still tasty.

We had a steak sandwich and a chicken and bacon burger. Nothing to rave about, chicken was very overcooked and dry. An below average pub meal. But the pub has great atmosphere and it was nice sitting outside in the outdoor area.

Went out to see what all the fuss is about, stayed in a room, ate dinner there.

The atmosphere of the pub is great, very friendly staff & locals, just a good honest bush pub, don't expect too many airs & graces, as I said, this is a bush pub, expect bush people & bush hospitality.

Well worth a visit if you've never been, be aware, if you're not covid vaccinated, you can't go inside the pub, not the pubs doing, at present that's the law in Queensland.

Very underwhelming experience. This pub was recommended as a must do lunch visit as we left Charleville; to sample the Road train burger!
We called at 12.30pm to see if a reservation was needed and were told we didn’t need one. After arriving at 1.20pm ( after 6+ hour trip) we were told the Road train burger could not be done as they have been smashed for lunch and it takes too long to cook. What a disappointment!
This time allowance for this meal is not mentioned on their socials, website or even the Menu!
Apart from the Not being able to order this meal, there were numerous dirty plates not cleared and the bar was like a furness!
A very over reaching establishment

One of those rare occasions when a legendary experience is everything you have heard about and more. Friendly staff, great service, a true outback feel and the Gully Aussie Sandwich looked daunting but we ate every last morsel, it was sooo good. Even with the added challenge of Covid rules the relaxed atmosphere was not stifled.
Thanks again.

Awesome pub, great food and lots of safe space for kids to play. Staff were very friendly. Food reasonably price considering portions and quality. River and camp grounds close by. Road Train burger is out of the world big!

Very iconic Aussie pub. Something to see at every turn. Good food, great service. The flies and dust make the experience all the better.
Will be back with mates as a big afternoon here and camp on-site would be brilliant.
