Georges and his team went out of their way to make my stay perfect. The bungalow was beautifully appointed and spotless. The beach is stunning, really stunning. There is a fair amount of very discreet security, which felt very precautionary; I stayed around the area for a few weeks and always felt safe (woman on my own). I also really...

Georges (the manager) kindly allowed us to visit for the day to kitesurfing when we were staying nearby. We were appreciative that he took the effort to help us arrange to visit with a taxi and spend the day - thank you. The kitesurfing is awesome. My husband is exceptionally good and loved the lagoon for kitesurfing. What is much...

We had a wonderful stay as the only guests on this private beach outside of Pemba. The main lodge (where meals are served) is located just 100m (or so) from the beach front. Our room was a bit more in the back. Place is run as eco-tourism, so do not expect fancy rooms with air-condition. Rather, the rooms are made...

Hi ! Thank you so much for this magnificent review. We just wanted to correct a small fact... The restaurant is actually 30 meters from the high tide mark. Thanks again !!!

Right after new year we left Maputo for Pemba, Upon Arrival, we were greeted by the driver of Ulala, who took us to the lodge, the ride took 20 mins. When we reached we were welcomed by ibrahim, then Mr Georges who showed us our room, quite comfortable and with basic amenities, no tv and wifi in the room (it...

Ulala Lodge lays claim to a slice of Mozambique's apparently endless breathtakingly beautiful, unspoilt palm-fringed coastline lapped by tepid azure-blue seas. The architecture of the main lodge with its soaring and low-sweeping palm thatched roof is - as many other reviewers have noted - spectacular, especially when compared to many other - more upmarket - lodges' utterly uninspired equivalents and...

Hi ! Thank you very much for your comment ! We're glad you enjoyed your stay at Ulala Lodge. Once again, we would like to insist on the fact that we are a small 3 star lodge, with few rooms and few guests. It is true we do not have any motorised activity, a catamaran or a pool at your...

Ulala is the most incredibly beautiful lodge. The design of the buildings is nothing short of breath taking and was created on a fractal concept blended with a keen interior style. The lodge has been created with the environment in mind at all times - unlike many other lodges that profess Eco values but deliver little. Solar panels (well hidden)...

We loved our stay at ulala, where the moment you step in you are taken away. The cabins were very comfortable and beautiful design touches throughout. The food was amazing (I could eat their roast chicken and potatoes every day of my life and be happy), and the beach was wonderful and private (except for the early morning when you...

Myself and my partner stayed here for the first five days of our trip. It was truly magical! It is quiet, peaceful, extremely comfortable and the setting is on the most incredible beach I have ever seen. The staff are awesome. We loved it so much we went back!

Stayed here overnight whilst travelling around northern Mozambique. We wish we had planned a week! The location is fabulous on a really beautiful deserted beach. We stayed in one of the two stilt houses which are absolutely beautifully built in traditional style, but with a modern touch. Food in the restaurant was good and the staff were super nice and...

We had a few days in the lodge and felt very well! Incredible beach, very good service and delicious food and wines. We enjoyed our holiday and we will come back! The lodge was build in an African style and well appointed with African design interior.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Ulala is an eco lodge located in Murrebue, one of the most beautiful beaches in Mozambique. We are close to Pemba (20 minutes from the city centre, 15 minutes from the airport), in the North of Mozambique. We are a small, isolated, exclusive place, with 6 rooms in beautiful and charming bungalows, all with a view on the Indian Ocean. We have taken care to use local materials (coco leaves, bamboos, teak decks, red sand) in all construction, delicately blended with modern facilities to provide comfort with a unique style. Our cosy restaurant / bar is on the beach, and we take great care at giving you the best food we can! Emmanuelle and Georges will be happy to prepare French cuisine with a mix of local flair. Wifi, wireless internet, is available at the restaurant. We can also take you outside the lagoon to the coral reef, to do whale watching. Conditions are ideal for kitesurfing from May to October. Ulala is the ideal accomodation for those looking for tranquillity and natural beauty; the remoteness of the place is an invitation to relaxation. The beauty of the white sandbanks and of the emerald waters shifting with the tides offers a never ending show. The beach is clean and calm. The nearest village is kilometers away. Ulala provides an intimate setting, with a friendly atmosphere, and is perfect for honeymoons, families, couples and friends. We are more a guesthouse than a hotel. ... more   less
