We were speechless as we turned in the drive of Black Lantern off of County Red. 2. The sign was unique but as we traveled the several blocks to the main entrance you were immediately impacted by the quality of the rock creations beckonening you in. A little further we saw terraced rock walls/risers with a beautiful wood pavilion at...

We stayed at The Black Lantern Resort for three nights in cabin Eleanor. Annie and her family own and operate this resort and go out of their way to ensure each guest is well cared for and able to enjoy the full experience. Our girls loved the resort (maybe more than Itasca State Park). The resort has trails for family...

My family of four (two adults and a 6 & 8 year old) just got back from a vacation that included two nights at Cabin Eleanor. We were visiting Itasca State Park and the Headwaters of the Mississippi, and this was a great location to base out of. The cabin was a short, straight drive from the park and also...

This has quickly become one of my favorite destinations. Everything was clean and organized; very well kept. The scenery was beautiful. There were plenty of things to do for both adults and kids, from fishing to hiking trails, barbeques and bonfires. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I will definitely be returning and I hope others visit too.

This was our 3rd time staying at the cabin, known as The Eleanor. It's the only cabin on the beautiful property. The cabin was very clean and well decorated. We enjoyed grilling on the charcoal grill and cooking in the fully furnished kitchen. Everyday we explored the trails thru the woods. Can't wait to visit again next winter!

My husband and I stayed in Eleanor four nights in April 2015. The cabin is so perfect, warm, inviting, well-appointed. Everything we needed was there, including linens. The gas fireplace was so nice! We enjoyed driving our golf cart on all the trails, walking in the woods and canoeing. Annie was so kind and accommodating. This was the most relaxing...

We had our wedding at the Black Lantern last June. It was absolutely amazing. The venue is so beautiful. The owner was extremely helpful and made our weekend event even memorable. Great place to have an outdoor wedding.

Our family of four stayed in the “Eleanor” cabin for a week. The Eleanor is a charming cabin in a rustic setting. The porch overlooks a wetland area and there is a lovely protected fire pit out the front door. The staff here prides themselves on providing everything you will need. The there is charcoal and lighter fluid so you...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Vast private acreage tucked in a rolling pine forest with a little fishing/paddle boat lake & hiking/ATV trails. Unique Minnesota cabin rental in our secret cabin "Eleanor" which is built on stilts like a tree house. Free firewood and bout use. Our resort has limited lodging so it is easy to rent out the whole place for parties and such. 7 RV/Tent sites are available. Our outdoor venue is like no other in MN as it is landscaped with massive boulders surrounded by hilly embankments with a looong staircase leading to a pavilion overlooking the countryside. The stages make it perfect for fests and weddings. A place where people/groups who want to be alone or left alone, can be, without disturbing anybody. Great place to get away, pet friendly and commonly take special requests from guests for their stay, whether its shooting, a ten foot bonfire, total silence, or a wild wedding. We are here if youu need us. ... more   less
