We stayed in the Eva Peron room and I would recommend this room. It is large with a fireplace and a screen porch. The property is next to a county park with many trails for hiking and skiing. I'd like to visit again when there is snow. The owners were gracious and did everything possible to ensure our stay was...

Visited The Outing Lodge in mid November 2011. We had an excellent time. The room was very clean as expected. The staff was better than expected and had a wonderful evening in fron of the Fireplace visiting with other guests and the owners. Definitely recommend staying here. Bring a treat for Choco a beautiful lab that loves people!

Dear Brandon, Thank you for your kind review. Your feedback is so very important to us. We enjoyed your company as well and hope to see you back soon. Choco has been busy walking the trails and escorting many guests to their vehicle. Kind regards, Carlota

The best part of the Outing Lodge is the Stillwater location and the beautiful walking trails which are connected to the Gateway trails. Once you get out doors on the trails, you can feel the energy of the land which is very lovely. In all honesty, the Outing Lodge is probably not best fitted for a B&B with it’s historical...

We stayed in the Eva Peron room for one night. It was very spacious and comfortable. The fire place in the room was very nice along with the jacuzzi. The staff was accommodating and the public areas were very clean. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

We came to the Outing and found it charming from the front outside but upon entering a lovely staff person shared that it had once been for the homeless and then a nursing home. Our room the Eva Peron had a summer porch, main bedroom side sleeping room and a large jaquzzi bath. Sadly it was freezing cold in the...

We had high hopes as we drove up to the beautiful buliding, saw the amazing public spaces within, and the park-like setting of Outing Lodge. The room...a let down. It looked like it was under construction, tiles loose, ceiling water stained and unfinished in places, the bed squeaked and was very hard. Breakfast was fine, the staff made up for...

We spent a lovely evening at the Outing Lodge. We stayed in the Albert Einstein room, which was small but very comfortable. The bed was terrific and the furnishings were lovely. We loved the ambiance of the Lodge----a cozy fire in the main sitting area, a beautiful setting in the woods, a friendly dog, one-of-a-kind antiques/mirrors/grandfather's clocks. If you like...

We were pleasantly surprised at the charm of this beautiful B & B. It is an old building filled with beautiful furnishings and has character you won't find at just any B & B. The rooms are filled with antiques and comfortable furnishings for a wonderful stay. The breakfast was served buffet style and had many delicious items offered. The...

When I first walked into the main hall, I commented to my spouse that it reminded me of when I lived in an old palace in Scotland as well as some of my European travels. It had all the charm of history, and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The staff greeted us warmly (as well as the dog leashed in the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
19th Century History Preserved at the Outing Lodge European style 19th century country home, surrounded by lawns and gardens with 300 acres of wooded park land ~ a place where people would go to get away from modern city life. Pine Point was founded in 1858 as Minnesota's second "poor farm," a home for the chronically indigent or those temporarily down on their luck. Stillwater was a wealthy community in 1850, the territorial capital. In this abundant atmosphere, a desire to help the less fortunate culminated in the construction of this poor farm. The prize-winning dairy farm became both a home and a workplace to thousands of needy for almost 100 years. When the farm was closed in 1957, the land was planted in pine trees, now Pine Point Park. The house went on for 20 years as a Rest Home. In the 1980s, to save it from proposed demolition, Lee Gohlike began its renovation. He gutted its interiors with a reverence for its historic past: wide-planked wooden floors cut from old pine beams provide a perfect backdrop to the many elegant antique furnishings, numerous candelabra and massive fireplaces. Featured in Midwest Traveler, Star Tribune and other local & national publications, this beautiful Georgian home is a destination for exclusive retreats & events. Guests enjoy cross-country skiing, horseback and biking trails connecting to the Metro system. Theme dinner calendar of events. ... more   less
