Went here using a Groupon for a stay and wine tasting. Our room was large and well maintained. The common areas (including the library and lower level) are large and worth exploring. The resident dog was friendly. The long mirror on the second floor is great for brides wanting to see their train. Breakfast was good. I appreciate the spread...

I had a Groupon which I used for my wife's birthday early this month. So, I jumped on opportunity to give this place a try. We had already came here in March for their March Chocolate B&B Tour. So, we were impressed with the wonderful landscaping as well as actor-themed rooms. I was lucky to book early enough for us...

I had no problem making the reservation with the Groupons I had purchased, Mark was friendly and accommodating. When we arrived we were shown our room which was very nice and recently had some remodeling done. We had a tour and wine and cheese get together shortly after we arrived. The staff was welcoming and friendly. Service was good as...

I purchased the Groupon for the Outing Lodge and had a wonderful stay. Scheduling our room was slightly difficult due to Groupon requirements - but once we got there we had a wonderful wine tasting and tour of the grounds. My partner actually proposed during our stay - and we spent the night celebrating with everyone else at the lodge...

I really wish I could give a higher rating. However if I could give a 2.5 star rating I would There are things really great about this place, such as the friendly host, the complementary wine and cheese sampling and tour upon arrival, Choco the friendly and lovable chocolate lab who loves to go for walks on the gorgeous state...

We booked this as an overnight stay while visiting friends in Stillwater. The place is old but very comfortable. I loved the original wide planked floors and the huge fireplace. The lighting is soft making it cozy on a cold winter night. The bedroom was nothing special but the bed was comfortable, and they allow pets. Their own dog is...

The Outing Lodge has so much natural beauty. It was the perfect setting for our simple but very special day. The girls got ready in the wedding suite which gave perfect natural lighting and a picturesque setting for glam. We took our wedding photos in the forest behind the lodge that couldn't of been more beautiful. For food we started...

Based on the emergency exit map, we had the largest first floor room, which is four rooms: the bedroom, a sitting room, the sun porch, and the "necessary" room. Our bedroom had a fireplace, with an electric heater within, which kept things cozy, a large bed, several chairs, and a t.v. The ambiance is great throughout, and is rather like...

My husband and I wanted a short get away to Stillwater, MN which is a wonderful historic small town. I purchased a Groupon coupon for the Outing Lodge at Pine Point due to its close proximity to Stillwater. Upon arrival we were greeted outside by the resident family dog, who was extremely friendly and loveable. We entered the Bed &...

This old building has a very interesting history. It was originally a poor house, then an assisted living facility, and now, a homey bed and breakfast. When we first arrived the place was warm and cozy from a fire going in the large fireplace in the main room. At first glance the building looks to be in disrepair, but after...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
19th Century History Preserved at the Outing Lodge European style 19th century country home, surrounded by lawns and gardens with 300 acres of wooded park land ~ a place where people would go to get away from modern city life. Pine Point was founded in 1858 as Minnesota's second "poor farm," a home for the chronically indigent or those temporarily down on their luck. Stillwater was a wealthy community in 1850, the territorial capital. In this abundant atmosphere, a desire to help the less fortunate culminated in the construction of this poor farm. The prize-winning dairy farm became both a home and a workplace to thousands of needy for almost 100 years. When the farm was closed in 1957, the land was planted in pine trees, now Pine Point Park. The house went on for 20 years as a Rest Home. In the 1980s, to save it from proposed demolition, Lee Gohlike began its renovation. He gutted its interiors with a reverence for its historic past: wide-planked wooden floors cut from old pine beams provide a perfect backdrop to the many elegant antique furnishings, numerous candelabra and massive fireplaces. Featured in Midwest Traveler, Star Tribune and other local & national publications, this beautiful Georgian home is a destination for exclusive retreats & events. Guests enjoy cross-country skiing, horseback and biking trails connecting to the Metro system. Theme dinner calendar of events. ... more   less
