We had a great time! Beautiful setting, very friendly staff, nice skiing. The cabins were modest, but had what you needed. The skiing was pretty entry level, which was great for me, but a more advanced skier might want more challenge.

Thanks for your positive review. Glad you enjoyed your skiing experience. While the level of trail difficulty is mostly modest, we like to think their beauty and uncrowded character makes them some of the best classic trails in the upper Midwest. Hope we'll see you again soon. -Andy

what a great get-away! Loved the skiing, the meals and the authentic Finnish sauna, followed--yes-- by a dip in Lake Gegoka! This is a good place to come to get away from the pressing irritations of life in the 21st century,

Went up for the first time this Jan 2017 and fell in love with this lodge. Meals were excellent and the after ski fun is the best too, outdoor hot tubs and sauna complete with a polar plunge option. This past weekend we had the full moon to boot. They even arranged evening music for us on Saturday night, excellent...

As usual it was a cozy stay again at National Forest Lodge... with beautiful skiing, good food and friends. Can't be beat! This time we rented the White Pines cabin and it was ideal. Beautiful, clean, warm... loved every minute! We may try for a second weekend this winter! See you soon!

Love the good, hot, meals & not cleaning up after eating. The classic XC ski trails are without parallel with the snow covered trees completely canopying the trail in some areas. I can stop at any point on the trails and be in awe of the forest.

Great location. Cross the lake and you are in the National Forest, a winter wonderland. Trails are well groomed for cross country skiing. The staff at NFL are wonderful, including great food. Been there 2 times and planning to go back. Some cabins have running water, kitchens and bathrooms, others do not. But the hot tub and sauna make up...

My wife and I have been skiing at NFL with a large group for the last four years and it is our favorite trip of the year. The trails start right at the resort and are so beautiful. Huge trees like you never see in the cities and they are usually full of snow. They have an outdoor hot tub...

That is quite a problem. I'll have to tell chef Augie to start making worse food and burning as much of it as possible. Thanks for the swell review and your many years of organizing the Rovers! Definitely makes all the weekends following kind of a letdown. :( -Andy

Beautiful setting, gorgeous trails and wonderful visit to the national forest! Will definitely be one of my annual trips going forward. Incredible nature and beautiful backdrop for a nordic ski weekend. Loved the outdoor wood sauna and surprised myself with the polar plunge. I would highly recommend it!

This was my first visit to NFL but it will NOT be my last. The setting is gorgeous, the accommodations cozy and comfortable, the staff friendly, funny, personable, and very helpful, the ski trails superb and beautiful, and snow shoeing was also great. I'll be back in the winter time as well as in the summer and/or fall!

Here's the bottom line: stay here! It's awesome. Andy does an amazing job keeping the cabins in beautiful shape. Hot tub and sauna are great. We were there for skiing and snowshoeing - miles of gorgeous trails right out of the cabin door. Augie serves the best home cooked food and takes great care of even the biggest groups. I'll...
