I booked a two night stay here for my partner’s birthday and my only criticism is that I wish I had booked more nights! Ian and Rob were fantastic - they gave a full tour of the property upon arrival, helpful guidance on the local area and things to do, and attentive service throughout our stay whilst ensuring guests still had space and privacy. The property is beautiful - we stayed in the Orion suite which was lovely and spacious and had AppleTV with various movie streaming apps available. The communal living area was super cosy to watch films in by the fire, which we did on our first night. Breakfast was delicious (during our stay I sampled the full English, smoked salmon bagel, fruit salad, and granola and yogurt cup). The second night we booked the cinema room and enjoyed the complimentary ice cream and popcorn. We booked a 1h couples massage as part of our package which was lovely. The sauna and indoor jacuzzi spa area is also great. We booked a local winery tasting and lunch on our one full day there, but could happily have spent the whole time enjoying all the amenities at Starhaven Retreat (though I do recommend visiting the wineries too as they’re great!). We will definitely be returning here when we can for another relaxing long weekend, I highly recommend!

Well this was a magical stay and we live down the road with a beach view! We decided to put our travel $$$ back into the local economy and couldn't be happier with our choice. The retreat is spacious and luxurious and even tho it is a shared accomodation you don't feel crowded and hosts Rob and Ian are very attentive. Their local info was very helpful. The retreat boasts a roof top area with lounge seats with views of the beach just across the road, The communal balconies were just the spot to chill and read whilst sipping my Pina Colada and the next balcony down has a hot spa. No kids (bliss), dog called Mickey( bliss), cooked brekkie in the large dining/kitchen/lounge area(sigh), billiard table, indoor large spa, another communal area with bar and then the movie room. We loved watching the last eps of Grace and Frankie with our complimentary pop corn and ice creams. Our bedroom was roomy and tastefully furnished with a comfy canopy bed. Certainly value for money and there is a range of choice amongst the bedroom suites with the largest having a large free standing bath and other extras. thnx rob and Ian for a great local getaway.

Having recently returned from a 7 night stay we would highly recommend Starhaven. After close to 12 months of lockdowns we really need an escape and that is what we got! The premise itself provided a unique experience. The physical accommodation is amazing – a large modern house overlooking the bay with only 4 rooms available for guests. Our bedroom was well furnished with a comfortable large bed, and a large balcony with bay-views. There were plentiful power outlets and a large screen TV with Apple TV functionality built in. Additionally, as guests we also had access to the ret of the building including 2 large lounges, a bar, hot tub, dry sauna, and spa pool. There was even a small cinema (which we never found the time to take advantage of). But what made this location really outstanding were the two hosts, Ian and Rob, who seed to be available at all times to meet any needs we had – help with suitcases, including a cold or hot breakfast cooked to order, advice on and bookings for local restaurants and other attractions. Not to mention enjoyable discussions on whatever came to mind. Overall, they made it feel more like a home stay with friends in a beautiful house rather than a week in a bed and breakfast.

Not often a place lives up to amazing reviews but this place does 100%. A superb house but importantly, when staying in a BnB, incredibly warm and welcoming hosts. Even though you share the house with other guests, you can have as little or as much interaction as you like thanks to the multitude of living areas, not to mention home cinema room! Waking up to breakfast with panoramic ocean views flooding through the glass-lit living areas was a real highlight, not to mention the superb home cooked breakfast itself.

Couldn't recommend more highly Starhaven for a luxurious base to explore the Bellarine Peninsula. Thanks Ian and Robert (& Mickey) for the immaculate hospitality!

If you need a short break and want to be thoroughly pampered, Starhaven Retreat is the place for you! From the minute we arrived, Rob and Ian made us feel thoroughly welcome. We stayed three blissful nights and enjoyed relaxing in the spa, indoor pool and sauna and touring the local beaches and wineries, all of which are in close proximity.
The home cooked breakfasts were a highlight as was the cinema, where we lay back in style under the stars with our choice of movie, complemented by popcorn and ice cream!
We also enjoyed a cheese platter and bottle of wine on the balcony, with views of the bay and Melbourne skyline in the background.
We will definitely return to this little piece of paradise and would highly recommend it for anyone wanting to stay in 5 star accommodation whilst exploring this beautiful area of Victoria.

Rob & Ian welcomed us into their lovely home with open arms. As soon as we walked in the door, you could feel the sense of relaxation through the whole house.

Throughout our stay, the massages were the BEST!! High recommend booking a relaxation massage!

I could not fault anything during our stay, as Rob & Ian made you feel right at home. From the amazing breakfast & the popcorn/ice cream in the cinemas, plus the bar cocktails, I will definitely need to re-book another weekend away!

Thank you Rob & Ian for making our stay the most stress free experience!

We had the most enjoyable 3 night stay at Starhaven Retreat, perfect location in completely calm surrounds, just the sounds of the waves. Our beautifully appointed suite had every convenience. Rob and Ian are amazing hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast prepared by Ian deserves extra 5 stars.....especially the mushrooms cooked in yummy cream sauce! Thank you Rob and Ian for your warm hospitality.

Rob and Ian were lovely and welcoming and even catered to my tea preference, buying the one I liked - thank you. The retreat was very well appointed with a sauna, spa and lap pool, a wonderful roof deck where we enjoyed a champagne, although, the seating was badly in need of updating and only one seat dry enough to sit on. Inside there are many luxurious common areas to relax in and socialise. You could even pre-order a massage with the therapist coming straight to one of their especially appointed rooms. The king size bed was very comfortable and we slept very well. Ian cooked up a fabulous, generous breakfast which we enjoyed prior to heading out to some of the many very good recommendations for the day's sightseeing, dining, etc.
On the down side, we were given the Taurus Room, which while comfortably appointed, was not yet complete and had the unfortunate outlook onto the neighbour's garage wall. The room felt dark and cave like with one small window for the size of the room and, honestly, a little depressing. No issue at night, but very little incentive to relax in your room during the day. The toilet did not have a door on it as yet, but you could close off the bedroom from the connecting private hall and bathroom - you just needed to alert your partner first.
The fridge was a little on the small side and didn't cool very well with no thermostat to alter the temperature.
The shower didn't have anywhere to place your soap, shampoo, etc , but had a nice rain shower head. The tub was luxurious and deep and the complimentary toiletries very nice quality.
The account on the pay TV wasn't updated, so we lost a night of viewing which was a little frustrating, but Rob updated this for us the next day.
In all, I would say we enjoyed our stay, but didn't feel the price we paid for that particular room was worth the money, despite the kind efforts of our hosts. We paid the same amount as guests that had far nicer accommodation at the retreat. Another room would have been well worth it, though.

Thank you for your detailed review and for your understanding that the room was not quite finished as it was impossible to get trades in with COVID prior the holidays. The Taurus suite will be finally completed by the end of the month. Please accept our apologies for the room not being quite up to standard yet. Unfortunately with a backlog of bookings from the last 12months of Covid-19 we didn’t have a balcony suite to offer you. We have taken your comments on board and will take them into consideration whilst completing the suite. Hopefully we can welcome you back in one of our upper floor suites the next time you are on the Bellarine Peninsula.

Nothing was too difficult for the hosts at Starhaven Retreat - from sharing their local knowledge and recommendations, to providing a cheese knife and platter to facilitate a light evening snack on the balcony. The Sunset Room offered a private balcony with a view of Melbourne's City - enticing us to relax and enjoy the ambience of the bay. The cinematic expereince was fantastic, and the spa was delightful. The spaces (both private and shared) were clean, tidy and well maintained. The "home-cooked" breakfast was a treat at the begining of each day.

Excellent location for a weekend away for our wedding anniversary. Beautiful house and design, still with comfortable homely feels and spectacular bay views including seeing a pod of dolphins cruise by. Delicious full cooked breakfasts each morning, with amazing catering to vegan dietary requirements- and non vegans alike. Fresh cooked popcorn and ice cream to go with a movie, jacuzzi on the deck and very friendly hosts willing to assist. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend this in the quiet seaside village right near wineries, Portartlington, Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff.
