I enjoyed my stay in the Bird House Inn very much. The little kitchen- which belongs to the Cardinal Room- was very convinient to prepare my own breakfast. Across the street is a food store which exeeds expectations! I liked the little town with its shops and restaurant. I can highly recommend the Restaurant Coalition. I hope the next time...

Stayed a week on business and felt right at home. great location and nice period property. Will look to stay here again when next in Minneapolis. Great local market Kowalski's and good selection of restaurants within walking distance. Lake Minnetonka regional trail great for cycling and running just next to the Inn. Excellent!

It was OK. The owners were friendly. The food was decent. It looked like the house could use a few touch-ups. The rooms were nothing to brag about, but OK. One of the rooms actually had a light switch in the shower. Maybe it would be much nicer in the summer so the decks could be enjoyed. The location is...

Clean rooms and easy parking and walking distance to every restaurant. I have stayed 4 different times in most rooms. Much better than staying in a huge hotel in Minneapolis or suburbs. Haven't had full/hot breakfast yet as off to work at 630 every morning, but plenty of self serve options.

Thanks so much! It's been great having you back - several times now. That's the best review I think we can get! Glad our self-serve breakfast options are to your liking. We find that most guests really appreciate the ease and flexibility that our self check-in (with a door code) and self-serve breakfast options provide - especially since we are...

This is a old style frame house at the edge of a charming town on Lake Minnetonka. Dave, the owner, is the perfect host and nothing is too much trouble. Snacks are available 24/7 and there are always two bottles of wine open for the guests to help themselves. We had a suite of rooms on the ground floor, which...

Thanks for the great review and for mentioning our suites. We have many different configurations of rooms that can work for groups, so we do hope people will call to find out all the options. As you said, nothing is too much trouble!

Two "hidden gems" west of downtown Minneapolis: the city of Excelsior and the Birdhouse B & B. Excelsior is a charming village on the shore of Lake Minnetonka filled with interesting galleries, bistros, and friendly people. The Birdhouse B & B is a wonderful place to stay right in the middle of town and a couple of blocks from the...

Wonderful lodging in a building dating to 1858. Great amenities and kind hosts. Loved the town as well. Top Shelf location to enjoy the St. Paul Minneapolis area. We visited in the fall but feel this would be a great place any season of the year.

So glad you enjoyed your experience! It's true that Minnesota, the Twin Cities and the Lake Minnetonka area in particular have something for every season. Hope you can come back and try another one some time!

We had a great stay at the Bird House. There were three of us and we stayed in the cardinal room and added the pheasant room which connects for our 15 year old daughter. It was so cozy and comfortable. Walking to Kowalskis for groceries was a treat and so convenient. Loved Excelsior. Great time had by all. Thanks Dave!

Thank you! Glad you were able to take advantage of the extra bedroom we can add to the Cardinal room to make a nice suite for an extra person or two. Lovely having you here, and we look forward to seeing you again!
