Admit it, that was at least a little influence when you decided to go dog sledding. You won't necessarily replace that Dos Equis guy, but every step counts. The lodge is comfortable, the food very good, and the guides exceptional but the stars of the show are the dogs and the natural beauty of the wilderness. A couple inches of...

They treat the dogs very well and the guests even better. We went on the advanced camping/sledding trip. We traveled on sleds over the frozen lakes with a team of 6 amazingly powerful, gentle and determined dogs that love what they do. We comfortably camped on the ice and ate dinner and breakfast by an open campfire. Staying warm was...

Our family of 4 ( two teenagers) came up to dogsled - and it was a fantastic 3 days. Traveling through the beautiful area with your amazing dogsled team is almost a spiritual experience. You come to know and love your dogs (be sure you take advantage of helping in the morning with the kennel care as you really get...

We did a 3 day, 4 night lodge based dog sled trip with Wintergreen. It was an incredible experience. The guides were fantastic. The Boundary Waters are beautiful. The food was amazing. The cabin was big and clean. Everything about the trip was top notch.

We had a wonderful dogsledding adventure. The accomodations were super. The guides were fantastic and if you appreciate canine adventure this is the place to go! My husband and I are in our 50's and had a super time. Its not as strenuous as you might think and as long as you dress appropriately you are ready to sled. Our...

We had no idea what to expect when we decided to go dog sledding. With two young children, we were a bit nervous it would be outside our comfort zone...but it was a wonderful weekend. Paul and Sue Schurke are wonderfully warm and they set the tone for the lodge and leadership for the amazing guides. We loved being in...

The kids wanted snow, the wife doesn't like skiing, and I wanted nature. We got more than we could have dreamt of at Wintergreen. Our wonderful guide cooked breakfast in our cabin each morning, then off into a wondrous, primeval landscape which beggars the imagination if you have not seen it. The sledding part was a little intimidating at first...

We were a bit disappointed at first to be housed in an overflow cabin. The main lodge is lovely and comfy. Our cabin had spotty heat, our back bedroom was cold and very little water pressure made the promised hot showers very difficult. The food brought over from the main lodge was okay but not gourmet. On the upside, we...

Thanks so much for your thoughtful & forthright review. We're delighted you enjoyed your Wintergreen Dogsled Vacation experience. We're also grateful to you for alerting us to the heat/water pressure issues in the 'overflow lodge'. We'll alert the owners of that facility immediately to those glitches. We certainly wish we could have accommodated you here at our own lodge &...

Thank you Wintergreen for the wonderful resort experience. We truly had a great time. We loved it! We are also feeling smarter, for the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Ranked by MPR among "Minnesota's Best Lodges" and by PBS among "America's Best Adventure Lodges," Wintergreen is the nation's premier recreational dogsledding center and (since 1987!) the only lodge devoted exclusively to dogsled vacation fun. From December through March, Wintergreen provides lodge-based dog sledding vacation packages and dogsled camping trips. Mush your own team of our friendly Canadian Eskimo dogs on beautiful northwoods trails with training by our expert guides. You'll be in good hands: National Geographic Adventure ranks Wintergreen as "Best in the Business" and it's directed by Paul Schurke, recipient of the "Explorers Award", "Adventurer of the Year Award," and "Environmental Hero" award. Winter is what we're all about -- we do it very well! Wintergreen offers a dog sledding experience to suit all ages and interests: Our Lodge-based Dogsled Vacation Packages are suited for persons ages 8 to 80 and require no experience or gear. On these unique get-aways, you'll enjoy mushing your own dogteam on spectacular wilderness trails each day accompanied by our guides & naturalists. Each evening you'll enjoy great Northwoods cabins and mouth-watering meals. Offered in 3- or 4-night itineraries, standard or deluxe packages. Our Beginning Dogsled Camping Trips are 5-night comprehensive winter camping courses suited for complete beginners. You'll spend your first two nights at Wintergreen learning dogsledding, snowshoeing, skiing and winter camping skills. Then with our guides you'll enjoy a 3-day, 2-night trek exploring the boundary wilderness -- capped off with a final festive evening back at Wintergreen. Lots of learning and lots of fun. Our Advanced Camping Trips and our Arctic Treks get you deeper into the wilderness by dogsled, ski and snowshoe, and offer more in-depth skills instruction. These 1- to 2-week trips are suited for persons who've had previous summer or winter camping experience. They are led by Wintergreen director & polar explorer Paul Schurke and are ranked by Outside Magazine as "the adventurers of a lifetime". Wintergreen Dogsled Vacations are open to all ages: no experience needed, warm clothing & boots available in all sizes, discounts for kids, youth, family & groups. Feed your soul with REAL fun. Canned vacations are like canned food -- uninspiring. You deserve an authentic experience to recharge and rejuvenate. While ski trips are as common as clover the world over, there's only one dogsled vacation package. That's here at Wintergreen Dogsled Lodge. Refresh and relax in the sparkling snowscape of a northwoods winter. Enjoy our fun-loving guides, sumptuous meals, lovely lodging and our furry 4-legged friends. ... more   less
