My wife and I were able to procure a single night, and this place does NOT disappoint. The views of the lake are spectacular, the lodgings are second to none, the food is excellent, and the people are wonderful - the lodge owners and the guests that we met.

The cabins here are wonderful. We have stayed in 3 different cabins the last three years. All beautiful and offer a wonderful space in "the woods!" The hosts are amazing and make you feel so welcome. A big beautiful and warm lake is just steps away from your cabin. Swimming, kayaking, fishing and simply gazing at the stars are so...

Staying at Burntside Lodge is akin to visiting distant friends who have a really great historic lodge. Lonnie and Lou will make you feel at home the minute you step over the threshold, from the beautifully appointed, comfortable cabins to the wonderful restaurant and bar (don't miss the Old Fashioned!). The lake is stunning and there is so much to...

We were fortunate to stay for three nights and wished we had decided to stay longer. We stayed in cabin 9 which is a two bedroom and perfect for two couples and had a beautiful view of the sunset and sunrise. The cabin was roomy and clean. The whole area was extremely quiet and at great place to kick back...

We were lucky to get 2 nights in cabin #27 which is considered the "honeymoon" cabin. This was our first visit to Ely, MN and the Burntside Lodge. We did not know what to expect, but we settled in and let the deep woods experience take over. The cabin had all that we needed to relax and unwind. It was...

We stayed 3 nights in cabin #25, and had a great time. Very peaceful, with wonderful north-woods ambiance. We hit the standard Ely tour spots (bear/wolf centers), but truthfully it was hard leaving Burntside each day. The restaurant was great, and we enjoyed dinner/drinks in the lounge. "Rustic yet sophisticated" is a very good description.

Delicious dinner, excellent service. It was a busy weekend in Ely with the Harvest Moon Festival taking place, which was was an excellent festival. We always try to make it to Burntside for dinner every summer and we are never disappointed. Always a wonderful experience. Looking forward to next season.

As other reviews have stated, this is a bit of a sophisticated resort, and not a sporty one (although you can go to the marina and rent a canoe or motor boat). We came after the busy summer season just 2 weeks ahead of the season closing. Although staffing was down (many headed back to college) the resort paced their...

I am so picky. As a lodge, Burntside fulfills every requirement I have for a retreat that provides a smart, quiet, sophisticated, beautiful experience. Great cabins, lovely grounds, guests who mostly get that this is a sophisticated resort, not a sports bar where we yell at each other and yuk it up. The views are phenomenal, the staff courteous and...

I am generally the type of person who always needs to be pushing forward and doing something and Burntside Lodge is proving to be a temporary cure to this affliction. The amazing setting, generous and personal hospitality and comfortable accommodations at the water's edge provide a magical and genuinely relaxing experience for my family and me. We are definitely adding...
