Detailed Reviews
My family and I have been going to Big McDonald for years. Well they sold to this couple that have it now and it is VERY DIRTY. If you book the place please bring your cleaning items. I have come up there where there is Pee on the bathroom floor. Or eggs left from the people before on the kitchen floor. The last time I was there I greeted by another family telling me I hope you brought your cleaning supplies because you will need it. Even the grounds are dirty. WE would come up there and all the grills were cleaned from the week before now you go there hoping you can find just one grill clean out the resort. If you want to know anything about the lake please do not ask the owners. They know nothing. Lisa is never there. Its all left up to Chad to do if he does not have another job. Forget about getting help on Sunday you will not see Lisa or Chad. They close the lodge down. You are on your own.
I dont know who JJim 93 is but maybe he is used to leaving in a dirty place.

If you are looking for a week at an authentic MN lakeside cabin...this is it!
The lake is amazingly clear, the sandy swimming area is perfect for relaxing on floaties or building sand castles. The fishing is good...almost all season. The cabins are nice, clean and simple (no big screen TV's here), and are all just steps from the lake. Each cabin has a sliding glass door facing the lake to let in the cool breeze and the call of the loons at night. The resort is on a quiet road, so letting the kids go off and explore on their bikes or on a nature hike is stress free. Lisa and Chad, the owners, are very welcoming and will make you feel at home as soon as you get there.
My family has been coming to this resort for over 30 years (over 5 generations!) and we all look forward to our annual week at the cabins. Unfortunately, most of the people going to this resort have been doing so for years so openings are hard to come by. If you are lucky enough to find an opening at this resort, Book It! You won't regret it and with any luck, it will be the start of a new family tradition for you too.
