I've never stayed in Whitehall before, so I gave the Whitehall Comfort Inn a shot. Glad I did! The staff was very nice. The room was clean and nice, although a little more light would have been nice. It was a little dark. The breakfast was good. The hotel was quiet. There are plenty of good food choices nearby. I may have to return to the area again for work. If I do, I'll stay here again.

This hotel was convenient for us to access the nearby rail trails. At check in we found our room wasn't ready on the 3rd floor (only kings were handicapped on 3rd floor) so we took a first floor king. It was too close to the lobby and pool, but we were hopeful since the clerk assured us quiet time would be enforced at 10 pm. The first thing we noticed was no door stop and the door handle goes into the wall. They had attempted to patch the spot. The room was clean and spacious - we were able to bring our bikes inside and still had plenty of room. The bathroom had a large counter which is nice. Large shower. We asked for extra towels and were given them quickly - only 2 sets in the room and we sometimes shower twice in a day due to bike riding. The room was a little humid even with the a/c running and there was a perfume smell like they were covering a smoke smell (no smoking with fines for the rooms). The usual microwave, small coffee maker and refrigerator with freezer. The breakfast was mediocre - basically a continental. No cream cheese for the bagels. The first night we had loud people above us, but they settled down by 11 pm. The second night was quiet. The bed was comfortable. Staff was very responsive. Would have given higher rating for 3rd floor room and better breakfast. Be aware that a lot of families stay here because it's near Michigan Adventure so many kids in the pool!

First I’d like to thank previous travelers that posted reviews, that helped us to make our decision to stay here. The nightly rates were within our budget for a weekend stay. The front desk staff were wearing masks and were extremely friendly and helpful. We asked about restaurants when we checked in and they gave us a printed sheet of locations nearby that included addresses, phone numbers and if they only accepted cash. There is a Walmart right across the street.
I made a reservation online and called a few days before to request a pet free room. The lady I spoke with said that pets aren’t restricted to certain rooms because of service animals, which I hadn’t thought of and understood. She said that most pets aren’t placed on the third floor so noted that on my request and our room was indeed on the third floor. We checked it out before bringing anything into the room and found that it was acceptably clean. I’ve always made it a habit of bringing sanitizing wipes when we travel. As a precaution I wiped down all touch points before we settled in. The only thing that appeared not to have been cleaned recently was the heating/AC unit. The slats on that and the windowsill had accumulated dust and dirt so I took extra steps to clean it because I’ve heard that the virus can be circulated through the air. There is coffee 24/7 in the breakfast room and the room was clean with the tables set apart as far as possible in the space. The items available for breakfast were adequate, the pastries and apples were individually wrapped. We were very happy with our stay and would recommend it. The Fall colors in the area were beautiful especially along Scenic Dr. on the way to Muskegon State Park.

Hello DONM771, We are so happy to read your comments about the hotel/ staff/ service we shared with our management company. We realize that you were here in 2020, but now with the travel coming back to Michigan, we hope to see you again. You were visiting in the Fall, but why not try the summer this time! Michigan Adventure is just a "stone's throw away". Again thank you for your review, and come back soon!

The location worked great for us and what we wanted to do, see the great lakes, tour the sand dunes and eat some pretty good food. The room we booked had air conditioning issues, it was hot and we declined the room. The manager Susan worked some magic and got us another room. Thanks Susan! Unfortunately this room had some issues too. Squeaky fan, safe that didn't work and a bed frame that had a sharp protrusion that injured 2 of us. The room was clean and the beds comfortable.

The outside of the building is falling apart with moss growing all over. The workers are very nice and friendly. One elevator that always seemed to be in use every time you want to use it. There is no sound proofing between the rooms so you are going to eat any 40 lb kid running around 4 rooms away. The ice makers are so loud and obnoxious they rattle all night. The rooms look like they were remodeled by my cuzin who did not get paid. The free breakfast is what you would expect from a inn. I could never use thee small pool as it was always crowded even with just a few people there. This inn is a cash crab for it’s convenient location and that’s it. FYI if you want you can just bring your car and sleep in the parking lot no one seemed to bother anyone doing that. Much would of rather stayed in my car. I will never stay here again lmao

Desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. She let us park our motorcycle under the front overhang out of the weather and under the lights
Room was quiet and comfortable and included all the expected amenities. Our room included 2 double beds, small desk/table, and chair, tv and remote, microwave, refrigerator, safe, iron & ironing board, coffee maker (in bathroom). There was plenty of good lighting and many open outlets but we needed to use our extension cord.
They did offer a continental breakfast (during Covid) which included coffee, tea, juice, apples, bananas, Cheerios, Fruit Loops, instant oatmeal, packaged muffins, single serve yogurt.
The only negative was the 2 spiders in our room.
The pool and hot tub were closed due to Covid.

Thank you, DiFromOhio. We shared your comments with our full hotel staff as well as management. You may not know but, I told those spiders that they were not allowed to stay, such freeloaders! No, all kidding aside, in our mid-summer months, we have to spray all the time to keep those little ones out of the rooms. We appreciate you letting us know for sure. We hope you get a chance to stop by again, maybe this time in the Fall, to see the Michigan Fall Colors.

Over a weekend in September 2021, I was visiting the Whitehall/Montague area with a friend of mine and we stayed here on a Saturday night. (This was my second stay at this hotel; previously I'd stayed here 4 years ago.)
We arrived at around 1:30 p.m. and were, fortunately, able to check in. (I was happy about that because it was prior to the official check-in time of 3 p.m.) Our room (#224) was all right. It was clean and comfortable enough... no problems and we slept okay.
In general, I wasn't all that thrilled with my stay the second time around. There was nothing particular special about this hotel. I was disappointed that the hot tub in the pool area was out of order (I had been looking forward to using it). Also, I wasn't sure what was up with the business center computer in the lobby, but it was sitting in a dark little spot with no lighting. I tried using it to surf the Internet, but it was apparently not working.
A typical Choice-hotel breakfast was being served in the morning, but I tend to be particular about hotel breakfasts, so we ended up not eating breakfast at the hotel.
Basically, our stay was okay. It's nothing special at all, but the options for chain lodging in the Whitehall/Montague area are rather limited so this is probably the best chain hotel in the area. If I find, in the future, that I need lodging again in this area, and no nicer hotels open up nearby, I'd probably stay here again (I had no real problems), but nothing is really drawing me back to want to stay at this property again.

This hotel was along our route of travels. The staff was friendly, the rooms were decent, clean. The breakfast was basic yogurt, hard boiled eggs, waffles, muffins, bagels, cereal. The fitness room was a cramped area with a treadmill and elliptical. The hotel is basic and fine. Would we stay here again? Sure

Nice hotel. Very comfortable with a great staff. The breakfast was a little disappointing but it was VERY crowded with lots of families. We were able to get breakfast elsewhere and it was easy for us to do so. Although we didn't use the pool it looked very nice!

We are a women's bowling team and we selected this hotel because it had a hot tub when we got there the hot tub was not working found out it had not been working for months ue to covid 19 but the pool was open with all kinds of kids. We asked for a disount but they would not give it, suggested we go somewhere else at 6 o'clock at night. The halls were very noisy with kids till late at night, management said they could do nothing. Half of the machinery in the exercise room did not work. Was not a pleasant weekend.

Good Morning,
Thank you so much for your question. We do not sell discounted tickets at the hotel directly. I do believe that Michigan's Adventure sells discounted tickets at a group price. If you go to their website directly they have group tickets there. If you aren't looking to purchase all the tickets at once I know you can go to Meijer grocery stores and they have discounted tickets there also.
I hope this helps! We look forward to seeing you when you stay with us.
Thank you
Katie Briggs
General Manager
You sure can, however, the price isn't much different. Give us a call and let us know when you are looking to do that, we can let you know a price!
Thank you for your time!
