This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Smells clean when you walk in and the flooring in the lobby appears to be newer. Other than that, NOTHING is good. The hallway carpet and walls are filthy. The stairwell (no elevator) is disgusting. No air conditioning in the hallways. There is a full breakfast room, but no breakfast. The carpet and quilt patterns in the rooms will give you a migraine. The bathroom was right out of the 70s, in disrepair, and gross. Extremely overpriced ($199.00) for the value.

While the room was reasonably clean and had a fridge, the property overall is dank, musty, dingy and worn. Asked for a room on the second (highest) floor, was given the literal opposite, that being one in the basement. Décor was striking in how old and tired it was; think of the spare room in your grandmas basement with ancient, mismatched furniture & fixtures. Musty, stale basement smell (there’s that word again) permeates the building, and hallways are dark and uninviting with damage and wear throughout.
Most bizarre of all was that giant hole in the wall between the bedroom and bathroom. This was presumably to allow for the jetted tub to be accessed from the room, and while having the whirlpool tub in the room itself is quite common, having it in both the room and bathroom at the same time is not; the end result was no barrier between the toilet and the bed other than a set of cheap wooden blinds. Either steer clear of the three bean salad at dinner or bring along an exceptionally understanding partner, because if not they are going to get an ear (and nose) full.
Exorbitant cost of over $150 a night, easily more than triple what this flophouse would be worth anywhere else. Spend the extra money and stay across the street or even in your car at the adjacent wal mart.

Well, the saving grace for the Econolodge is that it’s cheap, a lot cheaper than the Comfort Inn across the street that is way overpriced ($150/night MORE than what I paid at the ECL). And frankly, after staying there, it was pretty dingy and in need of a complete refurbishment. Sadly, the same applies to this place. I will say the sheets were clean, the towels were clean, and the mattresses and pillows were reasonably comfortable. But the room was not clean, there was dust on most of the surfaces, and we actually ran next door to Wal-Mart to get some antibacterial wipes with which we could clean our room. The furniture was all beaten up, the shower fixtures were grimy (we did NOT use the shower), the flooring (faux wood) wasn’t installed correctly, the room smelled really musty until I opened the window and aired it out for a few hours, the room featured a nightstand with a lamp that was nowhere near any electrical outlet (and rendering the lamp useless), the “free breakfast” consisted of some dry cereal, a few wrapped pastries, and a pitcher of milk and a pitcher of OJ in a fridge, in a dark and dingy room. There is a pool, but it was empty and clearly has been that way for a long time. On the plus side, the landscaping is nice and the location is good. Since the rooms are uncomfortable to hang out in, having Wal-Mart next door gives you a place to go to. And … it’s cheap. Unfortunately the other options in Whitehall aren’t that great, either. So keep your expectations low, and you won’t be that disappointed.

While I recognize we are still coming out if a pandemic and most businesses are in a recovery mode, I feel compelled to share my recent experience so that other travelers will know what to expect. For the ridiculously high price, there was much lacking. First, we had come to this area for a wedding . Luckily we had showered before we arrived and did not need to do our hair as there was NO hairdryer in the room. Even the most basic motels have this. Then, there was no coffee maker in the room. I am an early riser and a coffee maker sure would have been nice. Also, even though the website advertised the availability of breakfast, there was none. Last, to compound everything, there was a definite lack of understanding of the importance of front desk staff appearance and ability to communicate in a warm and welcoming manner. I write this review in the spirit of helping this inn keeper attract and retain customers. Covid is not a valid excuse for this poor experience.

Online this appears as a Wyndham property but when you click through you get a Choice Hotels booking tool. After you book and there’s no refund allowed, you see it’s actually an Econo Lodge. When we arrived here’s what we found: Very damp basement room that smelled strongly of old cigarettes. Understaffed, pool out of commission. Way too expensive for what you get. Minimum expectation for a hotel stay is clean and dry. This couldn’t even meet that standard. Also weird open walled bathroom with a horizontal blind covering the opening. Just nuts.

Do not stay here. This was the worst experience at a hotel I've ever had, and I stay at hotels at least once a month throughout the year. This room cost about $200 for one night, including the pet fee. I booked in advance and requested a room as far away from the lobby as possible because of my dog, I didn't want to disturb other guests if he barked. We get there, check in woman is so unwelcoming. My sister checked in a few minutes before us and told us the same thing, so it wasn't just us. She gave us the room right next to the lobby, I even confirmed with a person via phone a week before staying that it is in my notes to be far from the lobby. It's 11pm. 12:30am rolls around and my dog is barking because of the lobby noises. My sister in the room across told me she can hear us so I went to the front desk to request to be moved before she gets any complains, I didn't want her to be pestered by it because I'm a kind and understanding person. I witnessed her being very rude to the guy ahead of me. When it was my turn she was rude to me like it was my problem that she put me in the first room. She put us into room 33, from room 111. Downstairs had moths flying everywhere, ceiling panels missing. We get in the room, flies, EVERYWHERE. It made me cringe, they were flying all around the room, at least 10 on the window. We didn't even put our stuff down, we walked back upstairs with everything and nicely asked to be refunded so we could leave. The first room wasn't great either. It had Bobby pins from the previous guest still and the floor had sand and was sticky. Mt sisters room had hair and there was jelly or something on the AC. Pictures are attached to this. I was waiting and the lady approached the desk and said "oh what is it now? I'm not refunding you!" Before I even said anything. She fought with me for 10 minutes before I told her I had pictures and documented everything and would be calling the owners in the morning with her name. We were not even at this hotel for a total of 2 hours. It's now 1am. She finally agreed to a refund and I have yet to see it in my account. Hopefully it shows up. This was July 8th, Saturday night into Sunday. Whoever is working the front desk at this time needs to be fired. I have never been treated so poorly by anyone in the service industry. We were left stranded with nowhere to go at 1:30am with a dog upset we had to move him yet again. We finally found a hotel at 2 30am willing to take us, otherwise it would have been a 4 hour drive home through the night. I will NEVER stay here again. You couldn't pay me to stay here. You don't treat people the way she was treating people. Not even just myself but my sister, the people behind us, and the man in the lobby ahead of me. Unbelievable. I will be contacting Choice Hotels corporate.
