What great potential this place has for a wonderful getaway! A lake, a great pitch, a rustic building and banana splits! The grounds are spectacular. There's a museum, a sugar shack and many beautiful outbuildings that are well Maintained. You could spend hours just watching the water skiers and boaters. Unfortunately, there are areas that need attention: *Rooms in the...

We went to The Shack for a couple's retreat. Loved it. We had a non lake view room with a jacuzzi. The room was comfortable. Room service simply replaces towels and empties trash so don't expect hotel service. There also is no room service. Meal times are limited and it is buffer style. The Shack is a large facility but...

A wonderful place to get away from it all. Very peaceful and relaxing. The grounds are beautifully maintained with a walking trail and lake. No beach. They do have paddle boats. Across the lake is the public access if you have any other watercraft. The owner and staff were great. They made you feel very welcome. Our room had that...

We traveled here for a fishing trip and needed a place to sleep for a night. When we checked in the owner welcomed us in, showed and explained the map of the grounds and gave us our dinner, banana split, and breakfast times. We webt to our room and there was a jetted tub, microwave, fire place and mini fridge....

The rooms were fairly priced and very clean. It was a quiet facility for one that is so large. They have plenty of entertainment from paddle oats on the lake to shuffleboard and ping pong. Great meals are offered. On the other hand, the decoration is a little quirky. There is a museum on site that is almost never open...

We had a family party in Fremont and didn't want to drive 6 hours in one day! I am glad that we came upon this little piece of heaven. The.grounds are immaculately kept. The room was extremely clean and comfortable! We had a newer room in the Livery. It had tow log rocking chairs, fireplace, and heart shaped hot tub....

The Shack was a beautiful place to stay. Had a great time. Very relaxing, lots of places to just sit by the lake. Had one very minor incident, we came back from breakfast and ceiling was leaking really bad over the jacuzzi. Which could happen anywhere, it didn't make the stay any less enjoyable. Good was wonderful, really enjoyed the...

We stayed at The Shack last night for a church retreat and enjoyed our large, clean room and private group meeting room. The meal buffets meant that we didn't have to cook or bring in food, but the menu and time of service were limited. The big plus on the food service was the nightly banana split offering. Though there...

It's hidden in the trees, the staff is friendly and the rooms are very clean. We will definitely come back again during the season when there is more to do. Very impressive and reasonably priced. Great for a family reunion because there is a picnic area available.

The Shack is one of those places with a "down home" feel; the people are friendly, the atmosphere invites calm. We found this to be a great place for an overnight get-away. The best time to go is on Friday nights when the dinner is also included in the price. Of course, also included--any time--is the delicious banana split. You...
