great central location on the beach, 5 minute drive to old downtown. Friendly, helpful staff. Wifi free and fast, satellite TV programming with DVDs player, ironing board and iron, coffee maker, microwave. Improvements I would suggest: remove room carpets as they hold humidity and smell musty, upgrade mattresses and relocate waffle maker in breakfast room to improve flow or have staff make for guests

A pricey stay, and you mostly pay for beach access. There's a continental breakfast (meager) with a nice view. The staff was not professional - information was hard to come by. The first full day of our stay, our room didn't get cleaned, and when it finally did it wasn't cleaned well (let's leave it at that). The location was...

This place was great!!!!! Our family stayed for four days! They have a big complimentary hot breakfast every morning , the beach is the backyard, and it's located right across the street from an adventure park, stores, and restaurants ! The indoor pool was great when it rained. It was also very clean and the staff was so great!

A great place to stay in Traverse City. Stayed in a lakefront room on the ground floor and could just step out onto the beach from our balcony. Very nice. A short ride from the hustle and bustle downtown. Overall a great place to stay. You won't be disappointed here.

The Sugar Beach Resort has a lot going for it but it feels like the owners are trying to cut corners in all the wrong places. It's as if they put all the money into building a nice resort on a beautiful beach and there's no money left to take care of the customers. The resort itself is very nice,...

Stayed during "peak" resort time. Arrived Friday night for our annual trip. We changed to Sugar Beach from the Hampton three years ago. We have been staying at the Hampton over ten years. Saturday...no housekeeping service BUT made certain to come in and pick up the tip! Storm hits around 5 pm and we lose power. Emergency lighting? A flashlight...

We go annually and stay here. The staff is always friendly and takes care of anything promptly. It is always clean, including the pool area and rooms. Really there is nothing to complain about. Prices can jump during peak season but are still in balance with the rest of the area.

Room was nice enough. Beach side room was nice also. First morning began with housekeeping pounding on all the rooms around us at 9am "housekeeping" and knocking very loudly which continued for an hour. If you are trying to sleep in this was both annoying and rude. The front desk - tried to contact several times to ask a question...

The location is fantastic, right on the beach on the East Bay. Traffic on US-31 is very busy, so although there are some shops and restaurants across the street, crossing the road is a challenge. The beach is nice and sandy, great for kids to play. The rooms are pretty average but some have recently ben remodeled. The indoor pool...

Great place to stay! My husband and I stayed here for our 1st year anniversary and had a great experience, room was clean, had our own private balcony with a beautiful view of the beach. It was very quiet and peaceful. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. No complaints with this place. Will definitely be back!
