We recently stayed at this location for the second time and we enjoyed our stay this time as well. Pay extra for the lake view, the views are incredible, especially at sunrise. We used the pool facilities and were happy with the hot tub as well as the pool. This location has a hot breakfast that is served by an employee and we thought it was great. We were told this location is the only hotel in the area that offers the hot breakfast during Covid so it’s a no brainer decision to stay here.

Original room had a wet spot on the carpet, a dirty floor, the sliding door did not lock, didn't seem that clean. Nicely moved us to another. The sliding door didn't lock, they installed a bar, smoke detector missing. The view is lovely to watch the sunrise each day, good parking. Heated pool, may be heated a bit. No one enforces people jumping/running about the pool. Hardly any employees wore masks, the maintenance, cleaners did not and none of the guests did. In a state currently deemed high transmission rate, this was ridiculous. The breakfast was typical IHG which is nice but took to our room...no masks. It is false advertising to claim such things online and not do so (covid protocol, wifi, heated pool). People above us had kids...we should not be aware of this. The internet was unreliable in both rooms and they said they have boosters that don't work to come to the lobby. Lobby=groups of no mask people. I've stayed at an IHG property in another state since, did as advertised.

Hotel was very busy. In our opinion, the hotel did not seem very covid compliant. Unlike other hotels, there was no sticker on our room door that said the room had been sanitized. The carpet in the room was very dirty. We did not see any signs by the elevator stating only one family at a time should use elevator. We did not see any signs in the breakfast area that reminded everyone to social distance. It was packed in the breakfast area. Breakfast was the normal breakfast bar, with a couple normal things missing. The front clerk and the maintenance person were very personable and helpful. We had a good nights sleep.

Great place to stay when visiting Northern Michigan. We had a lakefront room and absolutely loved the view. We also loved the backyard area where they have a bonfire every night. Sitting out there and looking at the lake in the morning was so relaxing. The service was great and the breakfast was good as well. we would stay here again if we were in the area.

We've gone to the Mackinaw City/Mackinaw Island area for 5 of the last 6 years. We always try to go off-season, so we ended up at this HI Express in St. Ignace this year. First time at this location.
We generally don't think much of the hotels in this part of Michigan. They are solely "tourist" properties, and they seem to be poorly maintained by the hotel owners. Nevertheless they charge over-premium prices and should be doing better.
Booked a lake-facing balcony room. On arrival however the hotel switched us to a ground floor "pet friendly" room I travel with a certified service dog, NOT a pet. This is an ADA violation.
Much of the room was filthy. Carpets worn and huge stains on the (from the "unfriendly pets" previous??). The sofa smelled and couldn't be used. Bathroom was clean and water pressure and hot water adequate. Security lock on the door broken, and the exterior balcony door lock was faulty as well.
HI Express breakfast was done very well, with all the proper items available and all the equipment working properly.
Hotel would not address the issues with our room claiming they were "fully booked". We would not stay here again.

We hadn't planned to stay here, but I am so glad it ended up that we did! My husband, our kids, our frenchie, & I arrived around 8pm on Tuesday night with no reservations after finding our original hotel plans were absolutely unacceptable (see my review of the Bavarian hole down the road from here). I was about in tears when I walked in just imagining we'd be searching for a room all night and the kids still hadn't even had dinner. The girl at the front desk was super swamped by customers and I thought there's no way she's going to be able to help us. I had heard her telling another guest how they were almost completely booked. When it was my turn to the desk, I was pleasantly surprised. She empathized with our situation & worked creatively to help us get a beautiful room for 2 nights! The staff even moved some reservations around so we could stay in the same room both nights. The hotel is 100 times nicer than the one we'd originally planned to stay in, and they were being diligent about staying safe from covid. Even so, they still provided all the amenities! They had strategically prepared and staffed so everyone would stay safe but still enjoy the pool, the beach, and an actual breakfast with hot food! We would definitely stay here again. You are less than a minute from the ferry docks and have a beautiful view of the lake from your room. Worth the small difference in price and no bugs!!!! The customer service was wonderful at check-in, during breakfast, answering questions, and at check-out. Anything we needed they were joyful and kind. I would recommend this hotel for your next visit to St.Ignace or Mackinac Island.

We visited St Ignace for the first time what a nice town . Our stay at the holiday inn was the best ! Check in was easy friendly staff and very professional. We booked a water view room what a great value our balcony was water edge you could hear the waves hit from the room . Room was comfortable and very clean . The breakfast was great many options the oatmeal was delicious and the egg white omelette was best I’ve had. Love the coffee in the lobby always hot and ready ! We found a nice Waterfront restaurant at the resort next door that was a minute walk good appetizers and drinks. The fire pit was great in center of resort very comfortable chairs and relaxing . I will definitely be back to this amazing property

Hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. Breakfast had good choices of hot items. Pool was good and the room was not humid so I didn’t mind staying letting the kids stay longer. Price was very reasonable especially due to the location of the docks to go over to Mackinac Island. Would definitely stay here again.

Our pricy lakeview king room was on the ground floor tucked into the corner of the building. The room is divided by a wall into a regular sized living room that does have a view and a little cave like triangle-shaped room with the bed it in. There is only 8" between one corner of the bed and the wall with a narrow opening into the living room. I asked the desk for a regular room and was told that all of the lakeview rooms have two queen beds except for the four kings inside the corners. The ground floor room faces the firepit and chairs so people were looking into it. A room on a higher floor night not have been so claustrophobic.

This location has taken all the right protocols for keeping guests safe! From check in to the room cleaning to breakfast. They have you wait and they serve you (as opposed to going through the line as usual) and then you can go sit outside or take it back to your room. As for the room we had, it was clean, well maintained and very comfortable Great Job H.I. Saint Ignace. We have stayed in the past and will again in the future! Thank you!

We were there in September and it looked like they had been doing some improvements. Our room was nice but you could see areas where perhaps a fixture had been changed and they had not painted so you could see where the previous one was. We thought it may have been the beginning of work after the high tourist season. I agree with the other posts and would take it to the top.
There are more places to choose from in the Saint Ignace area.
