Reviews summary

Powered by AI
Best Western Harbour Pointe Lakefront is lauded for its cleanliness, with guests often commending the pristine conditions of the rooms, pools, and grounds. The amenities, including the pools and breakfast, enhance the stay, despite a few calls for modernization. The hotel's prime location is a stone's throw from local attractions and offers stunning lakeside views which consistently impress visitors.
While the rooms are clean and boast views, some guests have encountered outdated decor. The service is generally well-regarded, though experiences can vary. Opinions on value are mixed; some find it reasonable, while others question the cost relative to room quality.

I have a dry sense of humor. Finally the sins of my past caught up to me when checking in. When I told Grant at the front desk I was checking in, he asked for my name. He looked at his computer and asked, "Are you sure it wasn't at another location?" After traveling over 400 miles, not what I wanted to hear and then Grant started to laugh. I must have been his biggest "catch of the day"! :) I really had a good laugh knowing the joke was on me. So for any future travelers, be prepared with a good come back if you are his next victim. The property is clean, staff friendly and being next to the lake just added to the experience. Highly recommend this property.

My family has stayed at this property in August for the last few years. It’s truly the very best place to stay in St Ignace. Fastidiously clean and spacious rooms, the staff is on it with CoVid protocols. Coffee available throughout the day, and the pool is amazingly clean. My son swam three times each day. In response to the Covid protocols, the staff runs any housekeeping items you need to your room, safely. We felt so relaxed, and it’s well worth the room rates on our opinion. The front desk staff doesn’t hesitate when offering places to eat, things to see or day trips to take. This trip we did absolutely NOTHING but enjoy our stay with Best Western Harbour Pointe....you cannot put a price on quality, safety, comfort and cleanliness 😌we rebooked upon departure, because we choose not to be disappointed with another property.

We stayed here for 5 days. The staff is very professional, courteous, friendly and ready to go the extra mile. We stayed in Ontario building. Room was very clean. Lake view from the room was amazing. Both indoor and outdoor pools were nice and clean. Breakfast was grab and go with a muffin, breakfast bar, water bottle and yogurt. Fruits like bananas and apples are available. Daily room cleaning is not done due to pandemic. But you can leave garbage by the room door in the morning and staff will provide you with new trash bags and clean towels. Overall very good stay and will definitely come back.

We stayed here with our two young children as a base for travelling around the UP. The hotel was wonderful! Check in was quick and the staff was very helpful and friendly. We arrived a bit early and it wasn't a problem. There are different buildings named after the Great Lakes. We were in the Superior building, which is right next to the outdoor pool. Given this I was nervous about noise, but we had no problems. Our room was spacious and clean with comfortable beds. The outdoor pool was large and had a zero-entry feature which was great for our young kids. The indoor pool currently has a limit to the number of guests who can use it due to Coronavirus, but we never had an issue with space. There is also a small playground on the property which our kids loved. We had a partial view of the lake and a balcony. Beautiful views! They host a bonfire at night down by the water. You are a quick walk from Shepler's Ferry to Mackinac Island and it's not a bad drive up to the Soo Locks or Tahquamenon Falls. The hotel appeared very clean and whenever we left the room we saw staff cleaning the railings, elevators, and other common areas. Staff wear masks and at the front desk they had Plexiglas up and were cleaning after each customer. They provided a sack breakfast with fruit, water, granola bars, yogurt, and a couple other items. We will absolutely stay here again! Fantastic experience and one of the better hotels we've stayed at recently. We cannot wait to return!

Good:
Our stay was for 2 nights on Monday (Labor Day) and Tuesday night.
There are 4 buildings at this hotel. Some with outdoor corridors and some inside corridors (ontario building). My wife and I stayed in a jacuzzi suite on the first floor of the Ontario building with a partial view of the lake. The jacuzzi suite was large with 2 rooms a bedroom, bathroom with shower n tub, and living area with the jacuzzi. The room was clean. The beds were comfortable. The 2 wall unit air conditioners did not work well. The jacuzzi tub had some duck tape placed in an area on the jacuzzi where a knob use to be. We don’t know what that knob did. The jacuzzi did work fine. The pool areas both indoor and outdoor are nice. They offer nightly s’mores from 8-10 pm on the lake front at the bon fire area. The staff was informative and pleasant. The hotel is near both ferry companies docks.
Bad:
The breakfast was not very good. We stayed 2 nights and they served the same items for breakfast both mornings. The hot items were French toast and 2 kinds of pre-packaged breakfast sandwiches.
Our room 144 was connected to plumbing for other adjacent rooms. You could hear the water being turned on every time for adjacent rooms and it was loud!
Overall:
I would recommend staying in a lakefront full view Ontario room which is not connected to adjacent rooms with loud plumbing. This is one of the better hotel options in the mackinaw and st.ignace areas.

No complaints here! Our room was clean and spacious, the king bed was very comfortable. Loved having a door to separate the toilet/shower from the sink and mirror, so I could do my hair and make up while hubby took his shower. We had no problems checking in or out. Due to covid the continental breakfast was prepackaged muffin, fruit bar, fresh fruit, coffee, and bottled water. Checking in and out was simple and quick. My only wish was that we had a full view of the lake, but only a partial view room was available at the time we booked so we had to walk out onto our deck in order to see the lake.

This Best Western has a variety of motel style buildings named after the Great Lakes. This means you have to walk outside to access breakfast, the indoor pool, front desk, etc. Not a huge deal in the summer, but could be frustrating at times.
The Michigan building is right by the lakeshore, so the windows have nice (though not close up) views of the lake. That being said, they are also very close to the resident geese and their droppings and the parking lot/grass pathways to the fire pit and beach are rather muddy. Some of the rooms in the bigger buildings do face Mackinac Island and have a better location overall.
The rooms were clean and updated, but had a musty smell that wouldn’t go away when we tried to air it out or use the AC. The bathroom especially had an odor, which may be due to having wallpaper around the top of the shower. The rooms typically have two twin beds per room and not much space around them. There is a microwave and a fridge, which is a plus.
This worked for a night, but we would look for a different room or different hotel in the future.

This hotel was absolutely wonderful. We stayed a week and were bowled over by the friendly and helpful staff. The daily free breakfast was tasty and fresh and done with covid precautions that really worked and made sense. The two women who worked the breakfasts kept on top of the restocking and filling breakfast orders, The Location is outstanding they have 5 buildings on sight and we stay at the Ontario (named for each of the 5 great lakes) building that wasy just 20 ft from the shoreline, beautiful balcony that allowed a beautiful sunrise to greet us each morning. The indoor pool and spa were great and clean, the out door pool and sun deck was past the season for us but looked delightful. They do a nightly campfire and provide makings for s'mores, very popular with the kids, but also yummy for us older kids. I've stayed in the St. Ignace area many times and this hotel really impressed me.

Don't know why anyone would give this less than 5 stars across the board. Great location, spacious rooms, friendly, helpful staff. Ron, at the front desk, was very accommodating in changing our room location to one that better fit our needs. He offered us discounted tickets for the Island ferry and carriage tour which we did. The hotel provides a shuttle to the ferry dock that does door-to-door service. Sid runs a golf cart continuously shuttling guests to the breakfast area. Views from our lakeview balcony room were beautiful, especially the sunrise. Just might have to go back!

Such a beautiful family hotel! Two different pools, a beautiful beach/shoreline, s’mores on the beach at night and working close proximity to everything in St. Ignace….there is nowhere else we would rather stay. They are also very helpful to gluten-sensitive people, offering gluten friendly pre-packaged foods at breakfast. The price was outrageous for Labor Day weekend this year, but worth every penny for the convenience of what we knew and to support the small businesses in the area.

It has it's own parking lot
Yes, the driftwood is a block and a half away
No there are no safe's in the room, but we have safe's at the front desk
I don't know. But I am sure if you call them they will tell you.
There are hot breakfast sandwiches, but not the pre-covid style of hot breakfast. It is more like an expanded continental style breakfast. Let's hope we return to normal quickly.
