Nice hotel once all the renovations are complete. We actually stayed in a room on the 4th floor that has been completely renovated. It was very nice. The bay view rooms are nice but you do look out over a shopping center roof. The staff is doing a great job considering all the renovations going on.
Book a room that has been renovated.
Location is good.

We rented two rooms for my wife and I, and my son and grandson for 4 nights. They were very clean and comfortable, even though regular, daily housekeeping service was not available because of the hotel;s precautions to safeguard the health and security of it s guests: us. Everyone wore face masks, the complimentary breakfast (which we missed) was not available, again, to protect guests from the Covid 19 and to ensure no closeness among the guests. Despite the virus, though, we could get clean towels and linens if desired. The housekeeping staff was very accommodating in this regard. The hotel was also very close to the harbor and downtown Petosky, restaurants and shops. We'd stay there again when revisiting the Petosky area.

I booked this hotel as a last minute Labor Day weekend trip. There are not many hotels in the Petoskey area itself so I decided to give this one a try because it was closer to the state park. The hotel itself was not bad, I was not a fan of being on the "first floor" which was actually more like an apartment at garden level. When we went to the "first floor" hallway it felt like we were in a bunker of some sorts. The room itself was nice, no complaints with the beds, bathroom, or TV. We did have a view of the bay, however being at garden level meant that we were looking at a strip mall roof mainly with the bay far out and difficult to see. The breakfast services were fine with a lot of varieties: hard boiled eggs, waffles, muffins, fruit, cereal; however the seating was not enough. I had two small children with me, who needed a table but there were not enough tables, so we were relegated to the couch with a small end table and anyone with small children knows that this does not work well. The pool was a decent size, several families were able to swim in it at once while keeping their distance, but the hot tub was pretty small, so you would need to weigh the pros and cons of getting next to someone you don't know very well in there. Overall, I would probably stay at a different hotel in the Petoskey area, this hotel was decent for the last minute booking but in the future, I would look elsewhere for lodging.

Let me start by saying that I'm one to give the benefit of the doubt....that being said this whole trip started on the wrong foot when we were "greeted" by the Fire breathing receptionist. this woman had an attitude from hell. I tried to chalk it up to her having a bad day. we however stayed several days and she was back at the desk on our last day. yet still a complete A-hole. I was with a group of 10 so we had three rooms. one of the rooms had an upcharge for a "water view" the view was the lake way the heck out in the distance. the main view was the top of the bed bath and beyond. now as for the rooms themselves wow. in my room they had a hole in the floor that was covered up with carpet. I about tripped in it. a big chunk of wood was missing from the dresser and a big dead bug was in the drawer. as for all the rooms...paint peeling from the ceiling and walls. what looked like mold was just painted over in the bathrooms. 4th-floor windows had no screens and almost fell apart trying to open them. I ended up propping them open with the trash can. skip breakfast. all your gonna get is a brown bag. the real kick in the pants was the cost. this hotel cost me more than the competition. I mean come on its owned by Hilton. The Hampton inn is such a disappointment. They have forever lost my business!

My family had a horrendous and horrible experience at Hampton Inn in Petoskey, MI. We booked there for a 2 night weekend stay for a soccer tournament my son was having there. We booked through booking.com. Upon our arrival at 11pm, we walked into a hotel that was 100% under construction. The whole hotel reeked of paint fumes and dust everywhere and full construction equipment everywhere. I immediately mentioned to the front desk staff that this was unacceptable. They agreed and offered us a full refund. Because it was 11pm, and my kids were asleep, and we didn't have another reservation, we agreed that we'd check out in the morning and still get a full refund. In the morning upon checkout, after we were awoken at 7am due to heavy banging and construction related noises and dust, the front desk staff including the supervisor again assured me a full refund. They mentioned that I'd need to initiate it with Booking.com to call the hotel and release the funds.

Fast forward 10+ days. I still do not have a refund after communicating to both the hotel and booking.com. Booking.com informed me that the hotel just recently authorized 1 day of refund. Again, I was informed by managers, supervisors, and front desk staff that it would be a full two day refund, multiple times. They are not holding true to their promise. On top of that, when I said I would hammer them with reviews of this topic of being dishonest and not holding true to their word, they hung out on me multiple times. They they claimed I was doing things to their staff multiple times during the short 7 hour stay. The only thing to note with the staff was that we forgot two of our personal pillows in the room because we were trying to get out of the room as quickly as possible from the paint fumes circulating in the air. I called the hotel 2 hours later asking if they could help track down my pillows since it was so recent. They all claimed they couldn't find them anywhere and weren't willing to help beyond that. Given that they were $200 down pillows and only a couple hours had passed since forgetting them, I came to the hotel looking for them. I asked the housekeepers where they thought they might be, and they said definitely in the laundry room. The employees at the front desk resisted allowing me to check out the laundry room with them. Finally I convinced the employee to take me down with him, and what do you know, as soon as we opened the door, the two pillows where right there.

My final thoughts are, please do yourself a favor, and spend your money on another hotel nearby. There are some great options around there. We rebooked at Courtyard by Marriott not far from there, and it was 50% cheaper and 20 times better. They staff was courteous and professional, unlike the dishonest staff and manager at Hampton Inn. We will never stay at Hampton Inn Petoskey or any other Hampton Inn for that matter again. Thanks Renee and team at Hampton Inn, we appreciate all the lies!

Sir, you failed to mention that when you arrived at our hotel you were extremely rude and abusive to staff. You failed to mention that you were extremely rude and verbally abusive to management when you did not get your way. We were forced to call the police and report your threats and harassment. You were never told you would receive a full 2-day refund. We agreed to let you leave your 2 days stay when you let us know you were unsatisfied. You booked with Booking.com, it is up to their discretion to return the other night or not. Nobody in your soccer group received a 2-day refund, any guest that has come here to stay during the renovation has choices, they can stay and enjoy the newly renovated rooms, or if they are not willing to deal with some construction, they may leave, and we will refund the 1 night they tried us. We are sorry you have it in your mind that you were lied to, you were not. You choose to remember things as how you would like them to be remembered. We will not tolerate any abusive, rude, threatening behavior from any of our guests.

This hotel was nothing but grief for us on our vacation. The room they put us in initially was very noisy so I changed rooms. I had a reservation for a certain amount and after changing rooms due to the noise I was charged $300 plus more than my reservation was for. The management was no help at all and could not explain nor refund the extra amount I was charged! Pathetic!

The hotel has balcony rooms with a lake view, however, you need to look over the top of stores to see it! At 5:00 in the morning, the dumpsters at the mall are emptied. There is no way you could sleep through it. Shortly later, we heard the backup warning sound of a truck unloading at one of the stores. After that, we had another round of dumpsters being emptied. I love Hampton Inns but would not recommend this one.

Cockroaches in 2 different rooms!! We called the front desk immediately after finding 3 cockroaches in our first room. It was about 11pm and we were exhausted but asked if there was another hotel under Hilton chain in the area we could transfer they said no.
One was on the bed, 2 were on the walls. Showed the worker 2 of them. Couldn’t find the 3rd.
We were moved to a different floor and right when we walked in, there was a cockroach in that room too on the wall by the bed. Worker took a picture and said he would call the manager. He apologized and was very helpful moving our luggage with us to the new room.
They moved us to the 4th floor and the worker did a thorough inspection for us and didn’t find any in that room. We were told management would call us in the morning- but we did not receive a call. They were German cockroaches according to google image search. Sooooo gross!!!!
We spent the whole next day spraying luggage, washing clothes and taking every precaution we could think of not to bring them home .
Beware!!!!

Booked one night here with my husband using my honors points and paid extra for a “bay view” room. Got put on the bottom floor where, yes, you can kind of see a bay, but mostly you see a roof and air conditioner units. Other than that (and most importantly) this is a well kept Hampton property - very clean and observing every safety precaution. You can feel comfortable staying here, just don’t shell out anything extra for a “view.”

We have stayed here before with a good experience and were looking for a place after driving about 8 hours. I booked on the app and realized we paid $350!! The room was nice and had a beautiful view- except we got there right at dark so we couldn’t enjoy it. I have never paid that much for a room and then at 5:25 am we were awakened by lots of banging. Turns out our room was next to the kitchen and they were not even trying to be quiet for guests. Very disappointed.
